I missed that (corporate owned/ operated) on the first read. But the question remains as to if the discount applies to anyone who books a 3-4 day stay? I know from first hand experience that La Quinta discounted our (2 adults/ one toddler) stay (we asked if there would be a discount) in a Dallas LQ based on a multi-night booking. I also know that most hotels discount for our hockey team when we book a block of rooms & give a 2-night guarantee. It's easy to understand why a hotel/ motel would be reluctant to discount to a group of testosterone charged/ adrenalin pumped teenage male hockey players. (Also considering that these are smaller towns usually w/ limited occupancy & we're participating in a tournament--higher than usual demand.) But they do. I xpect we'd get a better discount if we were a team of female synchronized swimmers...
Did a little more nosing around...The La Quinta is over 2 miles from the address I find for Tiller's clinic (2.2 miles) and adjacent to a major Wichita mall. Obviously Operation Rescue is barred from demonstrating in front of Tiller's clinic so it looks as though they've moved their target down the street a ways. Tiller's clinic was firebombed in '89 and he was shot in '93 by Rachel Shannon. Here's an interesting link concerning Angela Shannon's (Rachel's daughter) subsequent trial for threatening a Milwaukee doctor: (Note the cryptic reference to 'rescue' in the letter from David Eck to Angela Shannon.) Not suggesting that any of this was sanctioned by Operation Rescue--only that it would be wise to seek corroboration of the charges that the organization makes.

My understanding is that La Quinta offers discounts to people ungergoing medical procedures generally. My wife had some surgery last year, and the hotel there offered a 15 percent discount. To my knowledge, they don't ask what kind of procedure is involved. It'd be an invasion of privacy anyway.
Thanks, "Larry," since this is such a sad thread, I felt the need to try lighten it up, just a little bit, without becoming tasteless.
