Yeah, that's the story I remember seeing. It sounds true at least. Plus there seems to be widespread reports that not only elephants, but most animals headed out. I do find it peculiar that those two dolphins got trapped inland though.

Those must be some rugged street sweepers to remove the pachy. scat from the streets.

the sweepers get the urine and the smaller piles. Ladies come by with sturdy brooms and huge dust pans (not nearly as regularly as the sweepers) and get the poop.

Elephants Saved Tourists from Tsunami Interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if this is true, but I do think the details are a little exaggerated for the story. The article gives the impression that the rides are along the beach which I don't believe is very accurate. Almost always they are through jungle areas, not out in the open. I sent an email to a friend who will know more it and will post when I hear something.
