"I'm here to represent California, and I'm here for a historic event," Schwarzenegger said in an interview. "I've always enjoyed coming to inaugurations. It's always a celebration, a new beginning. It's going to be a great next four years. Terrific. I'm excited to be a part of it."
After the swearing in, Schwarzenegger and other governors went to the White House and waited in the Treaty Room for the parade to begin. Schwarzenegger spoke to Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and former President George H.W. Bush, but did not get a chance to talk directly to the president.
He also was friendly with major figures in the administration, watching part of the inaugural parade from the president's box, while chatting with Bush political strategist Karl Rove and secretary of State nominee Condoleezza Rice.

I should have included this excerpt too:
"Schwarzenegger said he wanted to set up a meeting in Washington next month with Dreier's help. He would invite the state's four legislative leaders -- Republicans and Democrats -- and talk with members of Congress about military base closings, energy, immigration and more federal aid for California."
I know some here don't like him but he is a hell of alot better representative of the state than Barbara "the idiot" Boxer
could Arnold start a recall against boxhead??? It is so time for this pondscum senator to go..and I apologize..pondscum has more class than boxhead...
Here's another excertpt:
Schwarzenegger's relationship with the Bush White House has been something of a complicated dance. California was carried by Kerry. The governor has no wish to appear too cozy with the president, lest he offend Democratic voters who have pushed his approval rating to 65 percent. Still, Schwarzenegger needs White House cooperation if he is to make good on his promise to be "the collectinator," vacuuming up the federal money he says California is owed.
Schwarzenegger downplayed hopes that his political clout would translate into more aid. He said it was unreasonable to expect that he would get a windfall simply because he and Bush are both Republicans.
"The governor has no wish to appear too cozy with the president, lest he offend Democratic voters who have pushed his approval rating to 65 percent. '

Nonsense. This is just the LA Times speaking.
Actions speak louder than words.
In this case, I agree with the LA Times, as evidenced by Arnold's own behavior.
I agree with you. Arnold gave a speech at the convention, but otherwise he was conspicuously absent from the president's campaign. He never toured nationally, and he never tried to persuade California voters either.
We had a historic opportunity to put almost anyone in the governor's chair, Gray Davis was so unpopular. We could have done a lot better. I blame Karl Rove for this miscalculation, and his stooge Parsky.
44% of California voters went big for President Bush, including yours truly. Inland California went red along with Orange And San Diego counties. We're not all a bunch of liberal wing nut kooks here. There was not a single red counties in all of Massachusetts but there are more of them than you can count in Blue State California.
