It was.

Every once in awhile I rent the movie. I hate it, it's dark and unappealing fare, but I do it just to see the old man appear twice for seconds each time. LOL...

The one scene where they gave him lines they ended up dubbing over his voice in post-production, though, unfortunately.

He didn't sound enough like a hick. Seriously.

I love the first scene though. It is mainly of my Dad holding a shotgun. Very fitting.

What do you mean, where did he come from?

He was in the movie.

"People unanimously rejected Hollywierd and it's lack of values."

Do those values include taking someone's money and then telling them to take a hike? This is not about Hollywood. You don't stab your supporters in the back, Hollywood or not. Hopper is a Bush supporter. The rest is immaterial to me.

"Murder in Coweta County"

Oh man--that's GOLD! One of the best TV movies ever made, in my opinion.

"Well according to http://www.whitehouseforsale.org Dennis Hopper is listed as a $50,000 donor. Someone is lying."

Perhaps I'm just a little jaded, but I'm guessing a web site called "Whitehouse For Sale" is not going to be a reliable source of info.

Andy Griffith could play a pretty good villain, too :)

Oh, YEAH!! I saw that one once a long time ago, I forget any details about the movie except it was absolutely TERRIFYING to see Griffith as a bad guy -- he was great! Kevin Costner (and I'm not a big KC fan) is an excellent bad guy, too, in a movie I love but which everybody panned, "5,000 Miles to Graceland." Another guy who plays a surprisingly powerful villain is Mark Harmon. He's downright frightening.

The guy who wins the "scariest dad" award, in my book, is Jack Nicholson. We all know how scary it was when we pissed off our dads, but can you imagine being "in the doghouse" when Jack Nicholson is your dad? Yipes!

According to a New York Post source, Hopper was uninvited after religious groups complained about his dubious history, BUT a friend said he didn't go because of work reasons. Variety, however, said Hopper's appearance was KO'd because wife Victoria Duffy was a Kerry supporter.-Posted on Fri, Jan. 21, 2005 THE BUZZ

Think all this is pretty peculiar..I am going with Variety, with what they charge for a subscription they better get it right!!! But would rather hear it from the Hopper's mouth!!

He was in the movie.

Really? I had no idea. I've only seen a bits of it (Penn is great actor, I'll give him that, but his directing skills are lacking). David Morse was in that movie, too, wasn't he?

You've got that right. The article from Fox has Pantoliano as co-director of the Creative Coaltion but he's only one of many on the board. So that's one distorted fact. And this was not an official Inaugural Committee event, so I don't think they could "disinvite" anyone. And reply #6 has the New York Post saying he's working on a movie deal and couldn't go. Besides, the Coalition was founded by the like of Sarandon, Robbins, and Baldwin. It may have changed but it's definitely not a Republican only group.

I haven't seen that one yet, but I want to. Another nice bad guy role for Costner was "A Perfect World". Have you ever seen "Open Range"? That's a semi-bad guy role--excellent movie too. Best Western since "Unforgiven".

Who are Farah and Dobson?

Pardon my ignorance. Just a little ol' Irish Freeper here.

I have a quaint little website.

www.lisamalia.com

Nothing special, just my thoughts.

Websites, with all their embellished stories and downright lies are pretty easy to come by these days.

I think I'll write a piece about John Kerry the coward, and how he disrespected my friend who was killed in Vietnam when offering a piece of candy to a child, and stepped on a strategically placed landmine. This one would be TRUE, though.

Wonder if it would get any play in the MSM.....:)

I was leaving the lobby of the Venetian Hotel last year and made a hard right to avoid a mom with her stroller. I'm blind in my right eye and while avoiding stroller mom literally ran over Dennis Hopper. He is above 5'3" and below my radar.

I tried to apologize,(and pass a business card sales pitch style), but his ugly manager with a clipboard said "not now sir!"... she didn't want any attention.

That's when I yelled out, "ARE YOU DENNIS HOPPER?"

:)

There are very few actors who can make you react with such emotion. Hopper is one of them.

Ya got that. Even in "Easy Rider"...gosh I'm old...he did more emoting than the jerk Fonda...after all, he didn't have a big name to play off of....just wish that Jack N. had a bigger part in that flic...Jack was my favorite character in that, albeit short lived.
