“For sale or rent: beautiful girls, 7 and 8 years old. Trained to please.” There are no such overt signs in the villages of northern Thailand, but word of mouth advertising brings plenty of ‘customers.’ Selling his young daughter into prostitution can earn a man enough money to build a house and support himself and his family the rest of their lives. To Shelbyville’s Ted and Ann Lewis, parents of two daughters, such actions are incomprehensible. They, the Rev. Bryan Nerren and others from Bedford and nearby counties have stepped up to do something about it. That “something” is helping provide a home — a haven for girls given or, in past years, sometimes purchased by The Home of Blessing in Chiangkham, Thailand.
“We started to help young girls 16 years ago,” the Rev. Sayan Kusavadee, director of the Christian home and school, told the Times-Gazette. “Early, we helped five girls; now we have about 75 girls under our care from villages nearby and far away.” The students range from ages 10-17, spending six or seven years of what Kusavadee calls high school at the home.
I get into so much trouble with my family for telling them that Buddhism isn't a bunch of saints in saffron. Thanks so much for saying what I have been saying. God Bless these people for their efforts.
Christian missionaries have brought a lot more light to the world than they have darkness. All religions are apparently not "essentially the same," in spite of the much-heard platitude that claims otherwise.
And yet there are some freepers who insist such things simply don't happen. (Despite all the evidence to the contrary.)
I could tell you a story or two that would make your hair curl...no, not going to get into it today. In Thailand, you can find ANY kind of sexual deviancy or drug you wish to experiment with. Jesus IS the answer, but so many reject Him.
Buddhists sell their young daughters to the sex trade and Muslims train their young sons and daughters to be walking bombs.
Sickening, would be nice to see a group that would buy alot of these children and export them to other places to raise them as Christian and give them an education.

No, thank YOU, for finding this worthy org. I've put it in my faves for further research. Sounds like a worthy charity. These poor little kids need a shot at a decent life.
Newspapers are always quick to bring bad news. Blood and deviance is on the front page; ordinary people helping other people is buried behind the auto advertisements in the back.
All that being said, I'm glad these people are doing this work. I've been to Thailand many times, and have talked to many of the working girls there. One girl told me matter-of-factly that it was a choice of working in a mine for 12 hours a day for $5, or taking a half-hour roll in the hay with a sailor for $10. Not much of a choice.
Anything that you could imagine someone will do--and even more things that you could never imagine.
The mind cannot comprehend such a thing.
Slavery still thrives in the world today.
As worthy of love and as capable of heroism as people are, there is no limit to the depth of human depravity. It is possible to know this and still love people, and most of us do, but it is something that we must never forget.
It is a specific statement of condemnation of idolatry with no apologies. Any nation involved in idolatry basically opens Pandora's Box. With that rationalization, I should become a criminal. The pay (the way I would do it) sure beats what I'm doing now. However, the Bible teaches me a different way of life and to store up spiritual treasures in preparation for the life to come.
Buddhism, Hinduism, Animism, etc. 'isms all lead to incredibly evil societies and no rationalization, reasoning or "this is better than that" changes the fact that Jesus provided us with the best way. Christianity puts God first, all other religions put man first.
Oh, almost forgot. Used to in Bangkok, at least, it was easy to find someone (and it wouldn't be an undercover cop) to off someone for about $50.00. I'm sure the price hasn't gone up too much since then and more than likely the service is still available. Idolatry provides interesting solutions to all kinds of problems.
