Damaging evidence of FARC - Venezuela's Chavez link

London 23.01.05 | Yesterday morning I listened to what appears to be a VHF communication, although it has been reported as a telephone conversation, between FARC leaders Juan Santrich and Jorge Tivieras. Radio Caracol of Colombia reports that Tivieras is thought to be the international liaison chief of a guerrilla front with seat in Caracas, Venezuela's capital. Tivieras gives account to Santrich about 41 credentials that he has obtained for an equal number of guerrilla members to assist and participate in the officialy sponsored Bolivarian congress held in Caracas on December 6-9 2004. Furthermore Tivieras states that he is in the process of getting 59 more permits to increase FARC's delegation to the event to up to 100. He also reports with respect to transportation (buses) that has been arranged for up to 600 people and the assistance of indigenous groups to further help with their cause.

Readers may think that my reaction to that juicy bit of information was not as bombastic as it should have been. However in my defence I must say that none of that surprises me; it's just more evidence to be added to the ever growing pile of facts that already demonstrate that Hugo Chavez is a dangerous criminal and should be removed from the presidency of our nation as quickly as possible.

Neither it comes as a shock the fact that the Chavez regime, not content with the huge fiasco made out of the whole Granda issue, has actually published, in one of its official internet outlets, an article by Antonio Guillermo García Danglades whereby it is argued that the FARC are not a terrorist organization.

Chavez is in bed with the farc guerrillas, the notorious narcotrafficantes of Colombia. His whole regime is propped up by terror. It would not exist without it. He is worse than Arafat. He has got to be stopped.

Zackly - anyone who disingenuously says 'who says farc is terrorist' is definitely part of the crowd that claims 'one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.'

I remember during the el salvador wars how the leftists used to lie so much about this, too.

I'm starting to sense a trend... Condi attacks Venezuela for the oil deal with China... various recent pieces within the past week about Chavez.

Do you think we're observing a focused PR campaign?

And how does it tie in with Bush's inauguration address?

Can we say that Antonio Guillermo García Danglades is the next Walter Duranty?

I am concerned that something akin to the oil for food scandal may be going on between the US legislators that visited Venezuela and Chavez. Did you hear Chaffee try to pressure Condeleeza Rice into saying something positive about Chavez during the confirmation interrogation?

South America is primed to rip itself apart into modern tribal warfare Africa-style if the governments aren't cleaned up. To heck with stabilization --- they need to be disturbed with some freedom first. Outside influences are stirring up trouble - the United States may need to counter them. The United Nations sure ain't gonna step in to protect anyone (except maybe the communist oppressors and terrorists).

Remember that Chavez also stated that Carlos the Jackal was not a terrorist because what he did was not on Venezuelan soil. Same old spin.

You might be right. Instapundit has news about Jack Kemp implicated in Venezuela oil trade.

Jack Kemp tried, unsuccessfully I must add, to broker a deal between the SPR and a suitcase company called Freemarket Petroleum. The deal never materialised, Kemp got badly burned and he took a somewhat distant stance.
