A day in the life of President Bush (1/23/05) photos
WhiteHouse.gov; various news sources ^ | 1/23/05

The first family attended church this morning. Afterwards, the President headed to Camp David where he was to meet with his advisors to work on his State of the Union Address.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: At this second gathering, our duties are defined not by the words I use, but by the history we have seen together. For a half century, America defended our own freedom by standing watch on distant borders. After the shipwreck of communism came years of relative quiet, years of repose, years of sabbatical - and then there came a day of fire.

Some, I know, have questioned the global appeal of liberty - though this time in history, four decades defined by the swiftest advance of freedom ever seen, is an odd time for doubt. Americans, of all people, should never be surprised by the power of our ideals. Eventually, the call of freedom comes to every mind and every soul. We do not accept the existence of permanent tyranny because we do not accept the possibility of permanent slavery. Liberty will come to those who love it.

As promised, this edition of "the Dose" is lighthearted, giving us a little interlude between the Inauguration and upcoming confirmation battles on Capitol Hill. I found a number of photos of Barney as a puppy. Had to download them to my PC, then upload them to a Yahoo photo album in order to create URL's that will work. Hopefully, they will appear here without a problem.

As always, please wait until the all-clear before posting other photos and images. Thanks.

The Vice President's comments about the possibility that Israel might take unilateral action against Iran's nuclear capabilities were a hot topic of discussion in Washington this weekend.

ALL: This is a test to see if one of the Barney images will appear when posted. Cross your fingers. (If it doesn't work, I'll try another method and give it another shot next week.)

This whimsical painting of Barney was painted by Michael McWillie for First Lady Laura Bush. It hangs in her office in the East Wing of The White House.

Thanks for the early dose, Wstar .. Hi Snugs!! Just imagine what a glorious this week was for the family at 1600 Pennsylvania .. the WHOLE fam damnly .. LOL. Thinking about what it must be like to experience that kind of unrestrained celebration and achievement.

Just taking a break from the doom-and-gloomers over at the Johnny Carson thread . .. what a giant, never be another like him! God rest his soul. Maybe .. top 20??
