CHICAGO -- In the past four years churchgoing Americans have grown increasingly intolerant of politicians making compromises on such issues as abortion and gay rights, according to a survey released yesterday.

At the same time, those polled said they were growing bolder about pushing their beliefs on others, even risking offending people.

Machiavelli said something like, "A public man can be corrupt, incompetent, cruel, vindictive, vacillating, self-seeking, weak, and stupid, and yet attain to the highest honours in the state; but if he is ridiculous, he is undone."

More and more, the Left (including the MSM) is approaching self-parody. The more that they are held up to ridicule, the less power they will wield. And if that means that I get a few yuks along the way, that's just a lagniappe.

Didn't the memo get out??! Saying "Merry Christmas" automatically qualifies as pushing your views on others.

Just wait until they find us raising our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord.

Guess I'll just have to quit voicing my opinion now.

I'm sure the gay activist and feminists are much more fanatical about their beliefs than churchgoers, but I'm sure the Boston Globe won't call them "rigid".

Churchgoers More Rigid? This got me confused with the other thread about Viagra being good for your heart!

viagra never came to my mind. I was thinking more along the lines of Aaron's rod.

"Churchgoers More Rigid"

This title make me suspect:
a. The journalist who wrote it is gay
b. He is taking a bitch-swipe at middle America

Thanks spod. I thought it odd that it hadn't been posted yet. I see it had....under a completely different title. I suppose I should have realized as it was a wire story pickup....

I think this is more a MSM waking up to the fact that ALL people of faith are waking up and voting. People of faith have LONG had rules for life.

This is just a propaganda piece to make all oposition to the democrat as only religious and not thought out.

This whole notion translates into whining, screaming children screaming the adults are all unfair for not letting the children run wild.

Imagine the shock wave of astonishment going through liberalism after realizing that Hillary Rodham Clinton joined the fray.
She assured us that she always was Christian and sees no problem with faith based social services.
Hillary of all people says the very same thing that Bush proclaimed, on top of it Hillary's made numerous mentionings of God.
Or is there no reply to Hillary's statements since it sounds so incredible and is simply not quite accepted?
Movements to the middle plus faith based statements signal serious positioning for 2008.

Jesus was offensive. Most people were offended by him. The proof for John the Baptist that Jesus was the Christ was that the blind see, the lame walk and the majority are "offended" by Him (Mat. 11:2-19). As Jesus said, "Blessed is he who is not offended because of Me" (Mat. 11:6; Luke 7:23).

If people get offended because of Christ, so be it. I'll wipe the dust from my feet.
