Sen. Boxer takes victim role after hearing for Rice
Washington Times ^ | 1/24/05 | Audrey

Sen. Barbara Boxer says she is the real victim of last week's confirmation hearing for Secretary of State-designate Condoleezza Rice, yet continued yesterday to question the national security adviser's honesty.
    "She turned and attacked me," the California Democrat told CNN's "Late Edition" in describing the confrontation during the Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing.
    "I gave Dr. Rice many opportunities to address specific issues. Instead, she said I was impugning her integrity," Mrs. Boxer said.

    "I personally believe — this is my personal view — that your loyalty to the mission you were given, to sell this war, overwhelmed your respect for the truth," Mrs. Boxer told Miss Rice, who has been President Bush's national security adviser since 2001.
    Miss Rice responded that she "never, ever lost respect for the truth in the service of anything. It is not my nature. It is not my character."
    "And I would hope that we can have this conversation and discuss what happened before and what went on before and what I said without impugning my credibility or my integrity," Miss Rice said.
    Mrs. Boxer yesterday called that response a "good debating technique."

    "When you really don't know what to say about a specific, you just attack the person who is asking the questions," Mrs. Boxer told CNN.

[snip]

California's other Democratic senator, Dianne Feinstein, declined on "Fox News Sunday" to comment on Mrs. Boxer's questioning, but said her colleague "was within her rights" to question a presidential nominee.
    "I don't happen to agree; I happen to strongly support Condoleezza Rice," Mrs. Feinstein said. "I don't want to see her diminished in the eyes of the world. I want to see her confirmed. She will be."

OK, I'll say it one more time...

If it wasn't for that dang 19th Amendment we wouldn't have a Boxer, Di-Fi, Maxine, Hitlery and a host of other mental midgets in gubmint. Oh, or that Osama loving ijit 'mom in tennis shoes' (forgot her name).

So... forget the 22nd Amendment, repeal the 19th!

~~~semi sarcasm off~~~
Reality check... Ms Rice defended herself against an ad hominem attack and the Senator gets her feelings hurt. We need more Republicans who will stand firm on their principals and fight the continuous demagoguery of Democrats like Clinton, Boxer, Kerry, Kennedy, Biden and their ilk
I really like her new "refugee" look - the ratty gray tweed coat and the frizzled hair.
The makeover would have been complete if she had just wheeled a shopping cart filled with junk up to the podium before she spoke.
Boxer could not bring herself to admit that Rice is smarter than she.
In this photo, doesn't Senator Boxer look like the late Christopher Reeve with a wig?
Babs, you are not a (blankety-blanking) victim, you are a (blankety-blanking) VOLUNTEER!
So typical of liberals and childhood bullies. They attack someone and when that individual strikes back, they run away whining about how they are being picked-on.
To liberals, they are either defending "victims" or they are "victims" themselves. Boxer is leading the charge to irrelevance!
Pete Wilson had the foresight to see this, and attempted-with varying degrees of success-to correct the hideous gerrymandering that the California legislature seems to revel in.
I hope that the current governor can do something to break the logjam in Sacramento.
Now, wait just a minute! That is over the top! How can you accuse a liberal of overwhelming something that they genetically cannot possibly have!
""When you really don't know what to say about a specific, you just attack the person who is asking the questions," Mrs. Boxer told CNN"
Funny, how "in Boxer's personal opinion" Rice had no respect for the truth and yet when Rice responded, it became a personal attack that Boxer feels entitled to whine about. Typical idiot Dem!
Her current appearance would be enhanced, however, if she showed some tact, grace, civility, and genuine intelligence.
You're right about looks. Even good looks are spoiled by bad attitude; and a tactless, graceless attitude goes with the territory for most liberals.
Age has hardened the imprint of nastiness onto Barbara Boxer's face. One of my favorite sayings is "Every man over 50 has the face he deserves" (quote attributed to either Abraham Lincoln or George Orwell).
I've seen a couple clips of Boxers questioning,or should i say interrogation of Dr Rice.Boxers performance was nauseating. The overall impression i got from Boxer was one of seething anger.Dr Rice stood her ground,didn't lose her composure,and showed a lot of self restraint in her anwsers.Now Boxer has the audacity to play the victim card? Simply beyond belief!
The democratic "effort - response" tack. . .
If you win, you're the hero and defeated a (or the) villian.
If you loose, you're the victim.
"Raise taxes!"
"Mrs. Boxer yesterday called that response a "good debating technique.""
Yeah, well.......Babs, baby..........claiming victimhood is a tired, old Liberal trick, too.
By the way.......it just doesn't work any more. The "who you gonna believe, me or your lying eyes?" approach doesn't cut it in this day and age, sweetie.
"She turned and attacked me," ...
Oh no she did NOT! I was screaming for her to let Boxie have it, but, of course, Dr. Rice was correct to maintain her decorum.
I wanted her to say, "Since you asked NO questions, I have no response to your venomous "speech" except to point out that it is slanderous, totally inaccurate and completely hateful."
OTOH I really hope Boxie will slap on her fright wig and get her mentally deficient butt on TV 24/7. Oh yeah, and I hope she remembers to redouble her efforts.
