I'm really bummed now.........I saw both of those people.
I am SO angry with myself.
Mama_bear and MUD took the only 2 decent pictures of me Thursday night...............and I never took a picture of either of them.
I've been kicking myself for that omission since.
And BTW, cute is an understatement describing our MUD, that man is down right hunky gorgeous.............and I'm a heck of a lot older than he is!!!!!
I wish I had met you at the Ball.
But I totally understand...........there were so many of us, we each could only meet so many.
I LOVE your pictures.
"Thank you for providing these glimpses of some known, and others whose faces we've not seen before. It compensated somewhat for our not being able to be there"
Ditto here. LOL, and it's such a shame because I live 10 blocks from there. But I was cold, cold cold from being out all day in the inaugural. Sigh, when you live in DC, you always say "I'll go see that next year" -- but who knows if there will be a Guiliani inauguration in 4 years? So I too appreciated the photos -- it was very cool to see Lori's best photos here.
Hi Lori and Amy...A quick in and out....What a fun thread. I thought about you lots this week. So glad it turned out well... Clearly I'm out of the loop...need the story behind the most beautiful child named Marissa I've ever seen... Amys????
Thanks for the beautiful thread you two. So glad you had a great time and hope I can join you next time. Ilene
They were fantastic! Everyone who went to the last Inaugural Ball said they were a great band, and they certainly surpassed my expectations. They really know how to get a room rockin'.
Hope you are tip top before long.
Thanks, I am feeling a bit better, I think.
You really put your love for us in this presentation.
Well, thank you. What a sweet thing to say. :-)
Hi dutchess. Marissa is Amy's little great (grand?) niece, but she calls Amy "grandma". She is a joy and seemed to thoroughly enjoy her trip to DC. The two and a half hour wait in line taxed her patience (AND ours), but most of the time she was an angel.
Marissa was a perfect little lady at tea with FReezie. She seemed to sense that the Ritz is not a place where she should play with her food. LOL.
It's hard to remember to take photos when you are caught up in the excitement of being there and socializing. The only reason I remembered to is because I didn't want to come home and have to face Billie with no photos for this thread. LOL!
More than enough photos were taken of me anyway. I am not photogenic, never have been.
I think the last time I was photgenic was when I was younger than my 6yo.
I was having so much fun talking with folks that I totally forgot about the camera.
But even more than my having a good time is the good time hubby had...........he kept disappearing on me. He so rarely participates on threads that I feel this is "my" world. He made all kinds of new friends Thursday night.
Amy, thank you for helping me with the post....and thank you, everyone, for being here today!
Good night FRiend..........I'm not far behind you.
That's great. It was nice to see so many FReeper spouses having such a good time. So often they end up feeling like fifth wheels at these things. EVERYONE seemed to be having a ball!
My husband would have liked to have been there, but he couldn't come because of business appointments. I am hoping we can both come for the '09 Ball. :-)
Good night..Hope you feel better tomorrow!..I loved the wonderful pictures.
I'm going to start saving up now for '09!!!!!!!!
I told you to dress warmly! :o)
Thank You, MamaBear :-) Was searching for you too. And am so glad I found you! LOL, so many people, so little time. Thank You for the pic of me and my sister, Maureen. Maureen's husband was suppose to come, but is still very sad about losing his sister in September. Still a difficult time for all. We donated the ticket to Pippin, unfortunately, she could not attend the Ball.
Hope you are feeling better.
Thank You so much, Gabz
Wish I had met you too. Seeing the photos of you, I now remember saying a 'hello' in passing, not knowing who you and your husband were. After arriving, went to the bar for a cigarette. I am sure you and your husband were sitting at the bar. You and your hubby are a lovely couple.
I did dress warmly most of the time, but there was no good coat to go with my ball gown!
I wished I could've been at the inauguration too!
I'm sorry about the ball tickets, I also posted to Jim Robinson. I'm going to try to save up for 2009! :o)
Sorry you couldn't go to the Ball, was looking forward to meeting you. 2009 will be here before you know it :-)
Any advice on how to post these photos is greatly appreciated. Guessing I need a tutorial in html.
Thanks ; )
Thank you, SheLion.
Are you still in Maine? Bet you all are about frozen up there! Did you get much of that blizzard? Don't tell anyone, but Maine is the next state I am going to present at the Finest.....on February 9th, I think. Hope you will be able to come and share some of your thoughts about your state. :-)
Yes. See the asterisk? That is where I am. Way north.
We lucked out with the big snow storm. It went out under Houlton, an hour south away from me, thank God. But we are under a deep freeze from Canada. Very bitter wind chills.
Can you give me more information in a post or FReep mail about the Finest for Maine? I'd love to help. Let me know!! :)
I will freepmail you this evening and send a link to what I have done so far. I have already started putting together graphics and information, but I still have a long way to go to get it finished. I would love to have your help! Yippee!! :-)
I will certainly do all I can. I've lived up here since August of 1983.
Auntie-beautiful thread! Your talent shines through as always! Elizabeth is sitting here with me and she says she is glad you had a great time, even though you didn't come to see her! lol
Awwww......thank you for the sweet compliment.
Elizabeth is sitting here with me and she says she is glad you had a great time, even though you didn't come to see her! lol
Oh, no.....I can see it now.....that child is going to be as good as *you* are at laying on the guilt. LOL! Tell her that Auntie Lori feels just awful about not coming to see her, she really does. :-(
Computer on line for just a day or so & finally catching up on some of the inaugur threads... thank you for this beautiful presentation.... wonderful. good pix & the name ID helps a lot. I hope to get my pix & my thoghts on a thread (wont be pretty like this one) in next few days.
It was such fun & so nice to meet you both...
It was great meeting you too!
FR can sure throw a party, can't they? So glad that THIS time I was able to go. If there is to be another Ball in '09, I will be there. (I think someone should convince the incoming President to hold the Inaugural events some place warm, like Hawaii. LOL)
It was great to meet you DollyCali.
We had a ball (!) and are planning another trip to DC in '09, unless we can think of a reason to go back in the spring. LOL
