US book exposes secret US military presence in Israel
William Arkin: The US Army has at least five bases in Israel, including one at Ben Gurion Airport, and one in Herzliya Pituah.
Ran Dagoni, Washington 26 Jan 05 19:30
A new book published in the US, Code Names, by William M. Arkin, exposes information about a US military presence in Israel, including US Army bases at secret locations. It gives a long list of code names that describe milestones in strategic cooperation between Jerusalem and Washington. The books revelations about ongoing cooperation between the US Armed Forces and the Israel Defense Forces impart a new dimension to the saying by late Republican Senator Jesse Helms that Israel is Americas aircraft carrier in the Middle East, and that this fact alone justifies the military aid that the US grants Israel every year.
Arkin is an independent journalist and military commentator for NBC, and a former intelligence analyst for US ground forces. He calls himself a key to decoding slang and code names used by the US Armed Forces.
The book also sheds light on military ties between the US and most of the worlds countries, and on the organizational chart of federal defense agencies. A front-page story in The New York Times on one of the books scoops the operation of secret US Army commando units within the US, under a plan classified as top secret, has given the book broad publicity and a basis of legitimacy.
The book lists US military bases in Israel. According to the book, these bases are called sites, and numbered Site 51, Site 53, Site 54, Site 55, and Site 56. The form indicates that other unspecified sites exist, but this is not explicitly stated.

Oh, I'm sure this is all true.
If it is true, and it is secret, then the punk who publicized it needs to be hung.
I don't see a listing for "Code Names" anywhere on that page.
Can someone tell me when Jesse Helms died? I must have missed that.
Did you hear that the Israelis have a base on the far side of the Moon?
Jack Ruby shot Jesse Helms a while back. Umm, wait...
so what......the more the merrier.........
Who cares ? The US needs forward bases.
Maybe he was just "late" for dinner.
It's amazing how we have to hide any and all involvement with Israel because Arabs and Muslims are so filled with Nazi-like hatred of Jews. How does this square with our principles as a nation? Very disturbing to this American.

De-coding slang used by troops on the ground, and then publishing them in book form for our enemies to read, is bordering on treason, IMHO.http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1329227/posts
This is great..go read..
That is my favorite video on this board. Thanks for posting.OMG, that is the funniest GIF file I have seen in ages!
If I may be so bold, where did you find that, and do you have any more like it?
Seriously - 'made my day' - THANKS!!!!
:)
I've seen it around a few places. Darned funny!
Cheers.
There are a few links on the page referencing Arkin that are dead links, i.e. they don't exist.Hard to tell, with all that ozone.
What mystifies me is why he thinks this would bother us. I doubt it's true, but damn it's beautiful!
Your credulity is frankly touching
I fear for you though, anyone gullible enought to believe this story will have a hard life
What was it Barnum said "There's one born every minute"
How the heck would we hide bases in a tiny little country like Israel?
I sleep well at night because my younger Brothers and Sisters are in foreign countries. God Bless them and may they accomplish their missions.
He may already be hung but I suspect that you'd prefer he'd be hanged.
Thanks for the ping, Fedora!
OK, calm down. U.S. Army numbered "Sites" are often nothing more than a civilian fuel station, or sometimes even a single gasoline pump, that will accept the U.S. Army/GSA fuel card (like a debit card). There are such "sites" at airports all over the world. It's nothing. But if you are in a military convoy or a military aircraft you need to use a pre-approved "site" over a non-approved fuel source otherwise the military person will have to end up paying out of his own pocket and getting reimbursed later.
bump
So what?
Arkin's obviously a dork who got beat-up often as a little kid.
Thanks for the ping!
"given the book broad publicity and a basis of legitimacy"
ba-haw-haw-haw.
They also took over the Nazi UFOs in Antarctica. Those were based on designs by Marconi, who used his flying saucers to explore Mars in the early years of the 20th century. That's why Tesla was so jealous of Marconi.
I certainly don't think it is a bad thing, just thought it some news. I too find it disappointing that the US cannot be more public with its alliance with Israel. I doubt the presence is very large, but it is good to know that there is this kind of cooperation - but probably best kept secret.
I also agree that the author has an axe to grind, and is certainly leftist. I was concerned that this might cause some ugliness ... and since I am new here, felt some reluctance to share this item.
I'm sorry, but my posting on this site will be rare, I just don't have the time to hang out that much.
Regards,
dl
Ahh HAh...what a dweeb..Thanks :)
And enough weapons to burn for seven years...
Five US ARMY bases in a country that small.
Army bases are huge installations, even the small ones are quite large.
Couple that with imageing satellites from non-friendly nations (France...) and there is no way that it can be kept a secret.
Yet, the authors claim just that.
Riiiiiight!
