None dare call it treason (Ted Kennedy)
The Washington Times ^ | January 27, 2005 | Fran Coombs, Managing Editor

Posted on 01/27/2005 12:34:52 PM PST by rightalien

For many Americans Sen. Ted Kennedy has long been a caricature of liberal elitism, the bloated shell of what once was the youthful beauty of change. He has long lost the ability to shock with his antics, whether it's his questionable private behavior, returning the outreach of the Bush family with cheap shots galore or playing so loose with the facts in his public pronouncements that Jane Fonda looks like an intellectual heavyweight by comparison.

But wait, there's fire in the old warhorse yet. In a speech in Washington today, Mr. Kennedy became the first senator to call for the early withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq.

Drawing a parallel with the Vietnam war (why is it that liberals are so hot to champion U.S. failure?), he declared that "the U.S. military presence has become part of the problem, not part of the solution. We need a new plan that sets fair and realistic goals for self-government in Iraq, and works with the Iraqi government on a specific timetable for the honorable homecoming of our forces."

It doesn't come Oldsmobile equipped though. He will have to use his own. I suppose his is now waterproof.

Maybe Teddy the failed U-boat commander should recall, if he can through his alcoholic fog, his brother's own words:

Friday, January 20, 1961

"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty."

I wonder...

Did Sen. Kennedy reveal the amount of "Reparations" he wants US taxpayers to pay Saddam Hussein for being "unjustly deposed"?

Did he report how much he thinks US taxpayers should be billed to replace Iraqi munitions dumps destroyed "without a court order" or for destroying the terrorist training camps at Salman Pak without a "Mother, may I?"

Did he report how many Shi'ites our GIs will have to kill just to "catch up" with Saddam-approved death quotas?

No?

Why won't Sen. Kennedy just LEVEL with us?

Yes, the media and demos are anti-American, I agree. BUT, if our President is not letting our troops fight freely (lots of political issues are stopping our armed forces from being more successful), then the war with Iraq does become another Vietnam . The need is for those already in place to be let lose to be more than conquerors, not to tiptoe through the mosques any more! American soldiers are fighting with one hand tied, while their vicious, dishonorable and brutish enemies have all the freedom to war against them.

Uh, he'll get his own, sir.

There is justice besides human justice.

Right now, he has submerged himself into a figure of ridicule; nobody takes him seriously any more. There were several times this man could have been elected president on just his say-so and working the circuit (1968, 1972, 1976, and yes, even 1980, but he was no longer serious about it in 1980), no matter who his opponent was.

I do not know how old you are, sir, but there was a time when Teddy enjoyed near-unlimited admiration, adulation, and idolization of most of the American public--more than enough of the American public to elect him. I imagine there are still some people who think of Bubbly Blubby as the closest thing to human perfection, but not nearly as many as used to, many years ago.

Thank God, no more. Now he is simply ridiculous.

A guy with the girth and ideology of an extinct volcano.

Daddy Kennedy was cozy with the Mafia. So was brother John. From the looks of things, Ted must think he's the latest coming of the Godfather. Who knows, maybe that's what's kept him alive all these years.

BTW, notice that the only person similing in this photo of inauguration guests arriving is Clarence Thomas. The Dims around him are all scowling.
