Some of us know we are moderates (in the best sense of the word), but we can't seem to convince the liberals who think we're right wing wackos or the conservatives who call us RINO's and constitutional traitors.
Fifty years ago most people thought about things the way we do, and most of today's "issues" weren't discussed, they were simply part of the American way of life.
Don't take it personally when someone here makes a very strong statement disagreeing with some belief or position of yours.
Some of us have over a half century of experience and study on which we are basing our views, and there aren't many nitwits here, so we can't be moved off the mark by someone who simply disagrees with us, if they don't make a long explanation (with facts or Scripture) of how we have missed the mark.
Because we may not agree with you is not a putdown of you personally or your brains or your experience/learning/culture. Hardly anyone knows any more how to have a spirited discussion with sharp disagreements without getting personal, and impugning the other one's patriotism, piety, manners or mental status.
If you will learn how to discuss things with a calm demeanor and no ad hominems, you will be miles ahead of most of us, and most people in your life.
I hear Chris Rock is going to host the Academy Awards.
We don't plan to watch, but if you do, maybe you could count how many times he is bleeped.

Wow, phancy! Those pictures are AWESOME! What a wonderful thing that you had the opportunity to do--to see our President having a good time with his sweet wife! You seem to have had a good view--is that when he spoke to you about your friend in Iraq? Sorry I am running late--I have been out of town and have just now started playing "catch-up"!

Yeppers, that was when he gave a shout-out to my buddy in Iraq.
You would have thought I told the fella he won a million bucks, he was so excited that his Prez would take time out of his busy day to acknowledge a "lowly" (and I use that term with a great deal of sarcasm!) Private First Class.
I even wrote to GW a few days ago to let him know he made a soldier's day.
Incidentally, that little boost in morale came at a great time, his unit in Iraq has been taking a lot of fire due to the elections upcoming and have lost some of their brothers and sisters. It's taking a toll on them.
I'll be keeping your soldier and his brothers and sisters in arms in my prayers!
