But the true strength is the fact that we've got citizens from all walks of life who are willing to volunteer a thousand hours a year to make somebody's life better. It is so nice to see the leader of the free world acknowledge the spirit of volunteerism.
I'm involved as a volunteer in a number of community based organisations, and year after year we find it harder to get people involved in a non-fee paying basis. However, I truly believe there is MORE to be gained - both spiritually and in terms of self-worth - by giving something FREELY of oneself for the benefit of others, and the greater good of the community.

and the foot surgery. Was that scheduled or an emergency?
Was scheduled. Just have things to do rather than
keeping my foot up.

Good evening, jonny. Sorry I haven't been around the Dose the last couple of days. Although I live about 30 miles from where yesterday's horrific train derailments happened, as you might imagine, I was caught up in the story much of the day. It happened just after 6:00am local time, so I had plenty of time before work to catch a lot of the early TV coverage. One man who was pinned in the wreckage for a pretty long while, thought he was going to die. So he wrote a message for his wife and kids on the side of the train in his own blood. Told them he loved them. He was rescued, but there's been no word on his condition.

It was amazing!
The Prez sent my soldier in Iraq his best wishes, and that meant the world to those troops!
