Wasn't he pilloried for NOT going to church, despite being a professed believer? Not by his supporters, but by his detractors? His explanation was, I think, in regard to not wanting to totally inconvenience and dominate the people in attendance. I believe he sometimes had Billy Graham and others visit the WH or Camp David and preside over a service...

Maybe he play a little ball with Barney and Miss Beazley! (selfishly thinking about tomorrow's Dose. LOL)

Grin...you and I think alike. If you missed it, Dubya's schedule for the week was up on yesterday's Dose. He's traveling to several U.S. cities to promote his Social Security initiative.

Cool! Thanks for the link, Meg. I do have dial up at home, but I'll check it out tomorrow morning from my PC at work, before getting started with my day.

Wolfstar, thank you, so much, for the early dose on this wonderful day! Our good President is the reason the people of Iraq have the freedom to vote. I commend the people of Iraq for their courage and I commend George Bush for his courage and vision. Bill Krystol credited President Bush...wouldn't it be nice to hear more TV commentators recognize today's wonderful, historic event is happening because of George Bush. I won't hold my breath.....!!

Thank you so much for these pictures. God bless the Iraqis who are voting today--and all the soldiers as well. I am so grateful for our wonderful president--for the vision he has and determination to do what is right even when it is tough and not popular.

Thanks again.

DeLynn

Just seen scenes of people in England voting great celebrations.

Sky news is reporting that the Iraqi authorities and US authorities are saying that the elections have been a great success.

In some places 95% turnout and overall over 60% is estimated the way Sky are reporting is very positive, earlier I was watching BBC and ITN and even they were making encouraging sounds their reporters were being very fair and showing how excited the Iraqi are at voting. All in all IMHO the British media are reporting this fairly accurate amazing.

Hi snugs, I've been waiting for your to arrive on today's dose. Here's a small, but heartfelt tribute to your fallen airmen and soldiers, starting with a short news item about Tony Blair's statement -- for Dosers who may not be aware of the crash today.

Blair: British Plane Crash Claimed Lives
By CHRIS TOMLINSON, Associated Press Writer

BAGHDAD, Iraq - A British C-130 military transport plane crashed Sunday north of Baghdad, scattering wreckage over a large area, officials said. Prime Minister Tony Blair said there were British deaths in the crash, but did not say how many.

The crash occurred at around 5:25 p.m. about 20 miles northwest of Baghdad, a spokesman for the British Ministry of Defense. British C-130 Hercules planes can carry up to 128 infantry personnel, though though the number on the flight was not announced.

There was no immediate word on the cause of the crash, which occcured about a half hour after polls closed in Iraq's elections.

Blair didn't give details of the British deaths, but paid tribute to the troops who died in the crash. "This country and the wider world will never forget them," he said in a televised speech praising the election. [END]

British soldiers from the Royal Dragoons watch voters from the rooftop of a police station across the road from a polling station, in a school in the town of Abu Al-Khasib on the southern edge of the Iraqi city of Basra , Sunday Jan.30, 2005.
