WASHINGTON -- It may have taken place 10 days ago, but the presidential inauguration with its pageantry and dignity jostling the protests, excesses and overkill is and will remain fresh in the memory of everyone who was there. But those among us, some veterans of nine inaugurals, were shocked and disgusted by a new phenomenon: the Sore Losers Club.
There was no doubt that Al Gore, the former vice president and former presidential contender, is the club's leader. He found a black hole in which to again hide from the reality of voter rejection.
Another card-carrying member of the club pranced around a number of inaugural events. The beautifully coiffed and sour-faced John Kerry, still concealing his Vietnam war record, was freshened by his new enormity: an attempt to slow down the Cabinet-selection process by voting against the confirmation of Condoleezza Rice in the U.S. Senate. This just confirms his grasp on reality is more than shaky.
Then there was the club's chief shrew, Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif. Already sour and vinegary, she became as shrill as a fish wife when her attempts to hassle Dr. Rice failed. So she turned to personal invective.

Good post. Thanks.
"Pranced"... that's a good verb for sKerry.
Nice editorial, but let's not get too confident that Hillary will be the One. It's a long, long way to 2008 in these crazy years with plenty of oppportunities for her to stumble, old skeletons in the closet, and a constant need for her to hide the real Hillary behind that facade of hers.
Sure, she's a powerhouse and the strongest contender (John Kerry, please call home), but that is what also makes her the most vulnerable candidate.
As for Secretary Rice, let's wait and see what she wants to do at this point. She just got the key to the office last week. At least let her unpack.
Thanks. I love Dateline D.C. No one can figure out who he is.
