He was drawn, he said, to the GOP's social conservatism that he thought reflected the true values of black churches.

Black Churches have been the least noticed new player in the GOP. Most blacks are unlikely to desert the Liberal Plantation any time soon, but enough are reconsidering so that its crumbling at the edges. Eve a 5% rise in black support for the Republican Party would paralyze the Democrats. It made the difference in Florida and Ohio. Keep hope alive! (laughing)

Republicans founded the NRA; Democrats passed the first gun control laws in the South to *prohibit* Blacks from owning firearms.

Jim Crow laws; all passed by Democrats.

Bull Conner, George Wallace, and the highway patrolmen who beat Blacks on the Edmund Petus Bridge in Alabama: all Democrats.

Republicans introduced and passed in the House and Senate the 1965 Civil Rights Act; Democrats filibustered against it.

Republicans appointed Clarence Thomas as a Supreme Court Justice; Democrats waged war against him.

Republicans appointed Powell, Powell, Paige, and Rice to top-level federal positions; Democrats can't even put two Blacks onto Senator Kerry's campaign staff (even Donna Brazille is left out in the cold in favor of lily-White shrum).

Democrats let lily-White Pelosi steal Black Harold ford's House Minority Leadership role.

Democrats let lily-White MacAuliffe steal Maynard Jackson's DNC leadership role.

Republicans favor faith-based charities; Democrats oppose them.

Republicans favor private scholarships for inner city minority youths; Democrats oppose them.

Blacks and Republicans are overwhelmingly pro-life; Democrats are officially pro-abortion.

As far as I can tell, the lone "issue" on which most Blacks and Republicans disagree is on Affirmative Action.

Frankly, that one point of contention is not enough to keep Blacks from choosing to become Republicans if we Republicans do a better job of selling our other positive issues.

The bumper stickers alone that I'm seeing here in Alabama show that a shift is coming.

Your crazy - I hope Im wrong and your right but come on blacks pretend to be Christian and vote for candidates who are pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, etc... Blacks are not going to leave a party which continues to pander to them and supports their racists views against America (especially white America). Liberals have a strangle hold on blacks for many reasons - race baiting, welfare entrapment, hate affiliation - blacks are comfortable in this easy chair and quite frankly I dont ever see the possibility of more than 15% ever leaving the liberal slave plantation. Get ready to be wrong. I would agree with you if Blacks had remained static, and many of them have, especially the uneducated, lower class, broken family groups. But....the sea is changing, and many of the building middle class and young educated Blacks see their way to prosperity and the American dream is through assimilation into the general, free enterprise American society.

You should also take note that Hispanics have passed Blacks and are now the largest minority group in the USA. Hispanics are smart enough to realize that you don't ever, ever, put all your political eggs in one basket, as do Asians. Couple these two minority groups together, and the Black vote becomes less meaningful all the time. I could go on and on with the changing tide, but I will conclude by saying, honestly, the Congressional Black Caucus and the NAACP have no political power whatsoever in current Washington, DC, and won't have it for a very long time.

Average Blacks see this, and are beginning to get the picture that they have been had by the leaders, and certainly by the Democrat "Slave" Party. Change is coming!!! How quickly remains to be seen. If Black folk don't change their political loyalty, they will forever remain chained to and in their Black communities, and worse, chained to the bottom of the economic and opportunity totem pole where the Democrat Party has kept them for over fifty years. Please keep in mind that GW Bush picked up enough increased Black votes in Florida and Ohio, enough to give him victories in those crucial states!!

I agree with the items in the proposed contract, but they are good fer all Americans, not just Black Americans, imho. I'm sorta torn on this issue...yes, we want to attract more Black Americans to conservatism, but do we do it by treating them as a unique sub-population?!

BTW-- 25% of the black vote, would be a NUCLEAR ATTACK on the dems, as far as their ability to win, or even steal elections goes. AND, it is a goal, that I think, can be reached, with a little effort.

Back in July, we here in Ohio had been told, that "you guys can never get a marriage protection ammendment, on the books, in your state". Did we all just give up, and cry"woe is me"? NO!! I for one, passed around one of those petetions, and LOOK WHAT THAT RESULTED IN, it brought more voters to the conservative side here in Ohio-- Maybe even, it gave us that little cushion, we ended up with.

I hope you're right. It's occurred to me on occasion (for example, when watching him on Fox & Friends), that Ford might be a good candidate to come over to our side. If he's that politically savvy, surely he sees that it could be a good move for him. If he's smart he'll stay where he is for about four years, not p.o. the republicans in a major way, gain more experience and prestige, and see how the next two elections go. By that time he could be a major pick-up for the republicans.

Yeah right when RINOs say to blacks that we need affirmative action which you and I both know is legalized racism then that not pandering? My point is that conservative values win the argument day in day out. Im willing to put up for debate conservative values vs. liberal values anyday. But if we have to change conservative values re. welfare, freedom, speech,value oflife, religion, educatiion, taxes, and judging people based on merit (vs. liberal race/gender mantras) then it is not the party for conservatives.
