February 3, 2005 -- A high-school cheerleader was charged with murder yesterday for participating in the Lower East Side street attack that killed aspiring actress Nicole duFresne last week, cops said. (Linda) DuFresne, who spoke from her home in Minnesota, said she hopes her daughter's death will convince people to think more seriously about enacting stronger gun-control laws.

It is horrible what happened to Nicole Dufresne but all comments I have read and heard from her friends and now mother blame everyone but the shooter.

I wouldn't be surprised if HCI has been talking to
her.

I agree if the actress had a gun and had good control of said gun she'd still be alive...oh they mean the other gun control...silly me...

Now this explains the daughter's affilition with nutty groups.
Lady, a criminal low-life dirtbag killed youre daughter. Please, don't demand my fiance, friends and family members be made into victims like your daughter.

News of the latest bust of a teen schoolgirl shocked duFresne's mother, Linda."Oh. my God, they are so young, they are so young," she said, her voice cracking with emotion. "My heart goes out to the parents of these young children."
...Evans' mother, Lydia...who said her daughter was a cheerleader at August Martin HS, said "...They may have just made a mistake or two."

I agree if the actress had a gun and had good control of said gun she'd still be alive...oh they mean the other gun control...silly me... I never allow myself to think that a gun would save anyone. I carry a gun, daily, and it increases my chances of surviving such an altercation. It never guarantees that I'll survive. Same with this girl. She may have survived, but we'll never know.l

I was going to point out that New York City already has some of the strictest gun control laws in the United States. Instead, I think I'll just observe that the mother has less common sense than her daughter when it comes to guns and the criminals that use them.

She'd rather her daughter had been murdered some other way? Being stabbed, for example? Would her daughter have been less dead if she'd been stabbed?

Yeah, NY is known for its lax gun laws, huh.No kidding. If there is an example state for WHY GUN CONTROL LAWS DON'T WORK it is New York. What would have worked in this instance, would have been (intended) victims WITH GUNS.
Instead of saying, "What are you going to do, shoot us?" It could have been a defensive position with a 9mm semi drawn and aimed. But liberals, including DuFresne's mother, continue to blame guns instead of the wimp perp criminal as in this case.

>>>>>(Linda) DuFresne, who spoke from her home in Minnesota, said she hopes her daughter's death will convince people to think more seriously about enacting stronger gun-control laws.
Wrong on too many levels.
(1) Was the gun in NY legally owned? Somehow I doubt it. If the gun was already illegal, would another law have saved the actress? Obviously not.
(2) Was the gun legally carried? No. If the gun was already illegally carried, would another law have saved the actress? Obviously not.
(3) Her daughter is dead becuase she didn't have any common sense about weapons and thugs, and I now see where she got it. I'm sure the mom does not want to accept any blame for this, but with this attitude its hardly a surprise. Mom wants to blame a lack of laws - in a place where we have the most restrictive laws - for what was in reality a collossal mistake by her daughter, and an act of depravity by a thug. No collection of laws can take away the need for personal responsibility and good judgment.
Sad.

This is too stupid for words. The girl would have been killed no matter what the thugs had been using - they got mad, wanted to look big, and killed her, and they would have done so had they had to use their fists.
Mother is not listening. This has to do with the morality of the killers, not with their weapon.

Linda duFresne said her daughter would not want the killers to face the death penalty, but that she would want them to spend life in jail, especially Fleming. Another sign this "mother" is an idiot.

There was another murder in the same neighborhood this week. This one involved an elderly man using an unusual blade hidden in his cane. The NY Post headlines it "GEEZER 'STABS' VAGRANT WITH CANE BLADE"
http://www.nypost.com/news/regionalnews/39294.htm
Don't know what's going on here lately. It's usually a peaceful neighborhood.

If New York had any stricter gun control laws, it would truly be a Communist Republic. Wait, it already is...
What REALLY pisses me off about my own home state are the suburban RINOs who always say "only the police should have guns."

Not to mention the fact that with legal concealed carry, the murderer may have never attempted...Yep. If only liberals would look at what is now happening to all defenseless victims in Great Britain. No guns, owned by law abiding citizens, means perps can rob, kill, and rape without fear of immediate retribution. Gun crimes went up, not down and victims are everywhere, including in their own homes without any protection -- except to call a bobby who shows up with a whistle.

DuFresne, who spoke from her home in Minnesota, said she hopes her daughter's death will convince people to think more seriously about enacting stronger gun-control laws. With all due respect to this grieving mother, she is a flaming @sshole. If New York City's gun-control laws couldn't stop this murder, then nothing will.
If only the quasi-humanoid mutants had attacked her daughter with a cigarette . . . they'd be lucky to survive their ordeal in the NYC criminal justice system.
