Gregoire receives death threat
By David Ammons
OLYMPIA, Wash. The Washington State Patrol is keeping close watch over both Gov. Christine Gregoire and her Republican rival, Dino Rossi, after Gregoire received a death threat and emotions over the contested election continue to run high.
Gregoire told reporters today she received a death threat and that she plans to keep a lid on publicizing her movements outside the heavily guarded Capitol and Governor's Mansion.
Rossi has around-the-clock protection.
"I'm going to honor it when the chief of the state patrol says that for my personal security, we need to maintain some procedures," Gregoire said, referring to the blackout on releasing a detailed schedule.
"Give me six months. Allow me these six months."
She said she got a death threat, but added: "I'm not going to be deterred by any of that. I got death threats, frankly, when I was attorney general. I've got a job to do, but I'm also going to be smart (about security considerations). I owe that to the citizens of the state and I will listen to the chief of the state patrol."
She said blamed "the level of discussion on some of these talk radio shows" for whipping up people.

What a bag of dirt.
I don't believe a word of it.
Would Chrissy call it staged?
Well, no kidding. Emotions better KEEP running high until somebody goes to jail and the governor's job is handed over to its rightful (twice) winner. The stolen election in Washington is a national disgrace. Totally unacceptable.
Probably made up for sympathy.
It's talk radio hosts who get the death threats.
Man these NAZI liberals are so transparent
Setting the stage for the next election I see.
Weak. Weak. She'll never get anywhere within her party, nationally, with hasty, amateurish snap responses such as those.
Longtime 'Rat operators know you're always supposed to blame the Jews first, whenever possible.
She said she got a death threat, but added: "I'm not going to be deterred by any of that. I got death threats, frankly, when I was attorney general. I've got a job to do, but I'm also going to be smart
Not going to be deterred? Why has she quit putting out her schedule? What a joke. And she's going to be smart? Sure hope she will be smarter than when she was Attorney General and cost the people of the state millions of dollars.
She must be having a "change of office" moment. Pity we'll have to endure these for the next four years.
who knows? tomorrow the judge rules on the overwhelming evidence of a bad election. if justice is blind he will do the right thing and void the election.
Get used to it, baby. You will have no honeymoon.
"...(How do you say 'Berkeley California' in Aramaic?)
It's easy! Just say: "We're not as smart as Cal-Tec, but we're further left than Notre Dame!"
That's enough piss-offs for tonight! Stay well, pally................FRegards
Man arrested was named Jeff Martelli from Yakima county, who made the threat against her and her children on Jan 19.
Politicians get death threats all the time ( I would imagine Gov.`s get them quite alot ). What makes her so special she has to announce it to the media. There has to be a plan behind all this. Something is definitely up.
I believe she is an embarrassment to America and should hold a new election. Illegitimate government will lead to anarchy.
Is she just trying to keep protesters from knowing her schedule so that can't organize anything that would embarrass her, or is that too obvious?
She's obviously not a student of history. Usurpers usually find they face an indignant population.
They should have heeded the warning: Professional Crook--Do Not Attempt.
if justice is blind he will do the right thing and void the election.
True. However, I have lost all faith in our judicial system. Rule of law has become rule of judges.
It's certainly possible. I would wager that many, if not all, elected officials get all sorts of crackpot mail and so on. Even if nominally true, it's obviously a crafted strategy, an attempt to equate EVERYONE who has "issues" with the election as cut from the same cloth. The so-called liberals are masters at this sort of thing.
I see, so we should condone death threats to officials when we don't like the outcome...how noble.
Two memories from Seattle:
UW athletic director Barbara Hedges, after going on to the field at Washington State after UW had pulled a highly controversial upset on a questionable call and fans had begun to throw bottles as the Huskies celebrated openly on the Cougar field, said "I feared for my life."
Ken Griffey Jr. began publicizing death threats in his desire to leave the Mariners and go to Cincinnati.
can you fill me in? Who exactly is ruling on what?
My only knock on Sound Politics is they haven't detailed the legal schedule repeatedly. Got your orange ready?
I don't condone the threat, but I think she is a fool if this is a surprise to her. I expect it is merely an attempt to tar all who oppose her as dangerous right-wing nutjobs rather than a genuine reaction of from our appointed Governor.
She is the political version of the person who insists on going to a bad part of town alone after dark and proceeds to flash a lot of cash while getting knee walking drunk. It would certainly be illegal, wrong and immoral for something bad to happen, but anyone with an ounce of common sense wouldn't be surprised if the stupid sot got rolled.
The left in Washington state has come to think of the population outside of Seattle as yokels who need to be told what is good for them, even if they don't want to hear it. Property rights are under serious assault. Boondogle transit systems and sports subsidies are shoved down the throats of the taxpayer even if they are voted down. This election is simply a reflection of that attitude. King County decided they knew better than the rest of us, and simply waited to see how many votes they needed to come up with and provided them.
It is has been only a matter of time before some folks here got really angry, and when you give people the impression that the remedy of the ballot has become a shell game, some hotheads are going to go overboard.
The lefties haven't even pretended to be abashed or ashamed by the this boldfaced election swindle: One of the first reactions from our wonderful reps in Olympia was to say that this sham election pointed out how the right of the people to the initiative needed to be stopped, as the great unwashed of Washington can't be trusted to get the shaft again and again without trying to do something about it at the ballot box without the legislature acting as censor.
I am sure they are deeply concerned that the people might demand that the darn state constitution ought to be enforced when it comes to voting, and then what would happen to all the felons, illegals and dearly departed who wanted to vote despite those pesky rules that prohibit them from voting once or twice every election?
For Gregoire to whine that she is the target of hard feelings and talk radio is laughable. It is merely the sound of a con artist complaining that the mark is a poor sport for being angry about being ripped off yet again.
Condone the threat? Not one little bit. Understand the feelings behind it? You bet I do. That understanding doesn't excuse it, make it any less wrong or justify it, but honestly, what in the Sam Hill did she expect? Roses?
She's going the Daschle route? LOL!
Sorry, no sympathy for her. She stole the election, consequences good and bad result from public service on a normal day.
Huzzah Huzzah! Well said. Sadly, some people still won't get it. The fog of logic is too clear for some. :)
That's so last-administration.
The only death threat she probably received was some insane DEM trying to make it look like the Republicans did it.
Christine "Fraud" Gregoire.
Typical DemoKraut response (from the article):
Rossi spokeswoman Mary Lane said Rossi's protection is "24-7" but declined to give particulars. Rossi didn't request continuing patrol protection, but accepted it after the chief recommended it, she said.
"Dino takes the security of his wife and his four children very seriously and when the state patrol recommends it, he takes it very seriously."
She complained about a "snotty" press release from the Democrats criticizing Rossi for taking the executive protection.
"Mind you, John Kerry is no longer protected by Secret Service," spokeswoman Kirstin Brost said in that statement. "Apparently, it is riskier to be a former candidate for governor in Washington state than to be a former candidate for president."
She called the bodyguards a "personal perk ... during a statewide budget crunch."
A judge in some Eastern county is hearing the Rossi suit, which is an official CONTEST of the election. The judge will rule on a few things, we speculate including:
1. Is the judicial system or the legislature the place where election CONTESTS are taken and settled?
2. Has Rossi met the legal requirements to have his CONTEST legal action heard?
3. (Maybe) does the suit have merit, has he proved the charges?
It's possible he will say: Yes, it's the courts job. Yes, Rossi followed the applicable rules and regulations. Yes, I am going to rule on the merits. And Yes, the election was not legitimate and I am "setting it aside".
That's the dream! It COULD happen, in part or in whole, today.
At least she'd still get to vote.
I sense a fainting spell on the horizon.
Prepare to watch the economy of this state take a nosedive. This woman is completely incompetent.
At least indigestion.
So how about Bernie Ward's show?
Be afraid Madam, be very afraid!
Analysis: Progressive talk radio grows (LMFAO)^
Those are two UGLY NAG-HAGS!! ))))))))SHUDDER(((((((
Congrats! Your comment from this thread was mentioned this morning on KTTH, AM 770 in Seattle, by the fill-in host who was giving kudos to Freerepublic. "Encapsulated genius" was the term used. I think his name is Carson (something) The show is usually hosted by Dan "Darth" Sytman who is Medved's producer.
She just doesn't want her schedule publicized too much in advance because she's tired of all the people showing up that are being vocal about her illegitimacy.
What a b**ch.
