You have lazy detectives who didn't bother to check things out. If such types have made up their mind you did it, they're going to see the evidence or lack of it, in the light that you're guilty. That's why when you're defendant in a criminal case, you should not only hire the best attorney to defend you, he should also hire outside investigators to look over every piece of evidence. Often, the evidence is ambiguous or offers more than one possible interpretation. Let's just be glad most of us are not caught in the grind wheels of our justice system. Its not an experience I recommend to any one.

What would they have done if he had been attacked in prison?

Perhaps he was.  This is the sort of thing that a normal, healthy, sane guy would likely not want to admit to, at least to the press.  Perhaps it may be a factor in a future legal case.

This brings up another thing.....with the 'mainstreaming' of homosexuality, how long before homosexual rape is no longer a crime?  What if it turns out he got HIV from it?  He's just been given a death sentence, essentially by the combined efforts of this crazy woman and a police department that quite likely believed every word she said because she's attractive.

This whole thing is so frightening....it could happen to anyone.  I've run into a few nutcases, but nothing this bad.

Agreed. Not only did they nearly ruin the two guys lives, as well as their families, the police didn't do this girl any favors, did they? She obviously needed help facing reality, and they let her demons have control.

Well, he was in a county jail. My understanding is the rape stuff happens mostly in the prisons.

There is no adequate remedy at law. I'd sue for equitable relief. Specifically, I'd request the court to order the nutcase and the law enforcement involved confined to the same horrible prison conditions, and require them to individually pay the attorneys. Last but not least, I'd request that the court order the police department to terminate every clymer involved with this farce.
