Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's son Hannibal Gaddafi, who was allegedly embroiled recently in scuffles in France, has also been accused of a violent incident in Denmark.

"We have been informed by the police of this case of violence. But no complaint has been lodged with the police," the head of protocol at the Danish foreign ministry, ambassador Christopher Bo Bramsen, said.

"We are following the matter," he said, adding that Hannibal Gaddafi held a diplomatic passport and therefore enjoyed diplomatic immunity.

According to the tabloid Ekstra Bladet, Danish police were called three weeks ago to a violent incident involving Mr Gaddafi at a Libyan diplomat's residence in the posh Copenhagen suburb of Gentofte.

Police were however unable to intervene because of the building's diplomatic status.

Gaddafi is already the subject of a formal protest by France to Libya after he allegedly took part in scuffles in two luxury hotels in the French capital on the night of February 1 during which he produced a handgun.

According to the French foreign ministry, Hannibal Gaddafi has a diplomatic passport but no diplomatic immunity in France.

Hannibal Gaddafi, now there's a name that might be hard to live up to.:)

And I really appreciated your keywords with all the multiple possible spellings of the family name. The Western press has never settled on one common spelling of that idiot's last name.

The name 'Hannibal' does reflect back on the general that led the elephants over the Alps and defeated the Romans so badly at least twice. The historical Hannibal, as an African Carthaginian, was a worshiper of Baal, but that obviously didn't bother Omar Gaddafi when he named his son after him. The Romans finally killed Hannibal, and Carthage was razed to the ground and the soil was salted afterwards, but Omar must have ignored that part.

Actually, in that family, Omar probably included his two favorite heros when he named his son.:)
