After GOP Attack, Reid Comes to White House Dinner With a Bitter Taste in His Mouth
Washington Post ^ | February 8, 2005 | Charles Babington

Posted on 02/07/2005 10:05:25 PM PST by RWR8189

It's safe to assume that the mood at the White House dinner table last night was a bit more tense than usual. A few hours before dining with President Bush and a handful of others, Minority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) took the Senate floor to rebuke the president and his political party for a 13-page mass-mail attack on Reid, authored by the Republican National Committee.

"Is this how he wants to be a uniter?" Reid asked in his speech. The RNC, he said, "is his committee," so how can Bush call for bipartisanship one minute and then "send out scurrilous letters saying that I'm a bad guy? In great detail. I mean, is President George Bush a man of his word? . . . Mr. President, I call upon you to repudiate this document, to tell the Republican National Committee, 'Don't mail it.'

The RNC document, first reported by Roll Call, is headlined "Reid All About It," and contains a list of complaints about Reid's voting record and statements about judges, Social Security, taxes and other topics. It says Reid is "out of touch with mainstream America," has an "extreme environmental record" and is a "Scrooge in senator's clothing." The language echoes GOP attacks on Reid's predecessor, Thomas A. Daschle (S.D.), who lost a bitter race last fall to John Thune (R).

RNC spokesman Brian Jones said his committee is sending the newsletter to about a million activists, journalists and others. "Harry Reid's record speaks for itself," he said in an interview. White House spokeswoman Claire Buchan said: "The president has been reaching out to Republicans and Democrats alike, and he looks forward to continuing to do so."

I think immaturity explains most of liberalism.

Reid is nothing but a partisan hack. I hope the Republicans go after him with gusto. He deserves to be unemployed.

Well good. Reid has left a bitter taste in the mouths of Nevadans for years now. Hideous little man.

"Is this how he wants to be a uniter?" Reid asked in his speech.

While Reid is busy trying to play mind-games, maybe someone can ask him if he's yet figured out how Bubba Clinton "felt our pain" in 1992, then never quite relieved our pain in 8 years.

You can really learn a lot about a man by the way he reacts to criticism. The left has said just about every vile thing in the book about George W. Bush. Never once in 4 years have I ever heard Bush whine or complain about being treated badly.

I know that were I in Bush's position I would have kicked Michael "Pig Boy" Moore's family jewels up around his filthy neck. As for Teddy "Lady Killer" Kennedy, I would have sent him post haste to rehab at Gitmo. Dan "the Forger" Rather would be in a jail cell with a 500 pound pervert as a cell-mate.

Comes now that whiney-ass Harry Reid crying like a little sissy because the RNC accurately quotes his record and he can't take it. What a candy-ass crypto-metrosexual. Ever notice what a bunch of nellies democrat males are?

Mr. President, I call upon you to repudiate this document, to tell the Republican National Committee, 'Don't mail it.'

This is a flashback of John and John's constant refrain during the election. Reid must have sKerry's speechwriters.

Reid says any SS reform will be DOA, without even looking at the proposal, and then decries the lack of bipartisanship in Washington. Then he cries about the RNC pointing out his record and he gets all over the news. This is like the bizzaro world.

Worth repeating.

Probably already said a million times, but - - -

When the truth about a liberal is published (i.e. quoting his own statements), this is an Republican Attack.

When half-truths and outright lies are published about a conservative, this is fair and honest reporting.

Poor old Reid didn't read the warning sticker on the boomerang before he chucked it at President Bush. Maybe he should sue himself...

And why exactly was Daschle-Thune "A bitter race"? Bitter for whom? Maybe for the press. It was pretty sweet for me. They never called Thune-Johnson "a bitter race."

Go RNC! For years the Republicans tried to be nice to these nasty liars and got stabbed in the back for the effort. Now this little pig-eyed pipsqueak can't take it when his own voting record is publicized. The truth hurts Democrats, and they scream like stuck pigs when they get outed. That's when the RNC ought to re-double its attack. Maybe some Republican in Nevada will be stirred to run against Reid now.
If the Dems were smart...no danger of that...they'd let Nancy "The Shrunken Head" Pelosi do the attacking. She is totally safe because of the clueless Californians.

If Reid is ashamed of his voting record and his statements perhaps he should change course.
