"The fire was caused by one of about 10 lit candles on the tree, which had been in the house since December, police said.

Bradford was a member of the President's Council of Economic Advisers from 1991 to 1993."

"No, really Mr. President ... trust me on this ... there's no way your tax increases could ever come back and burn you.
..... really."

I was helping a friend clean house after Christmas (about 1st of January). She put a cedar/pine swag in the lit fireplace and darn near burned down the house. You can't believe how high those flames went.

Not good to put candles on a Christmas tree ever, let alone in January when it's completely dried out. I'm surprised he made it out of the house at all.
