Jeff Gannon - -A Voice of the New Media - The voice goes silent. -- Jeff Gannon  ran an independent news service. He got White House credentials, and was targeted by the Boston Globe in a hit piece because he isn't a "real," that is to say, "anti-administration" journalist.

Representative Louise Slaughter's Dan Rather Moment --
this is the age of Google and web searches, the greatest equalizer since the Colt revolver --
On February 7th, US Representative Louise Slaughter, D-NY, issued a press release on Jeff Gannon, a reporter from the web news site Talon News -- And then, in order to support her charges against Gannon, Representative Slaughter cited an open letter from the Niagara Falls Reporter, which levelelled, among other things, allegations published in the Philadelphia Daily News:

Rep. Slaughter Calls on President Bush to Explain Emerging White House Briefing Room Scandal -- Unbelieveable. FR got Dan Rather and all they can do to respond is go after Gannon and Talon News.
And they did it with a falsified attribution to the Philly Daily News. I had a source there confirm that they ran no such article.
Ms. Slaughter-- why she is issuing a press release without confirming the facts?

I have no idea what you are trying to say. Please repeat.

No need to repeat. The Boston Globe launched an investigation of "Jeff Gannon" after he quoted Democrats in a White House press conference, and the Globe deemed him too "White House-friendly." "Jeff Gannon" (Jim Guckert)'s quote was incorrect, but this all seemed set up to make the White House look bad, as if they planted a fake reporter, so that the LIEberals could say "look they did it too." I think the only reason he got to be in the press conferences was because Talon News would provide balance to the LIEberal media's political hacks.

I wonder why there are so many closeted conservatives? Starting with Terry Dolan of NCPAC and on through Robert Bauman, and that guy who ran part of the national GOP campaign, so many of them are gay, more than I'd expect.

I wonder why? You'd think the conservative tenets of the Right would preclude a homosexual from going to work on the conservative side...

ES -- He said he'd been harassed. I read elsewhere that Official, Credentialed, Stamped and Approved WH news correspondants themselves had told Jeff to his face "he didn't belong there" at those press briefings. I also recall reading elsewhere something about anonymous people contacting members of his extended family.

He said he'd been harassed. I have no doubts he was harassed.

Why should the conservative side preclude a homosexual from working with them? Please explain this to me?

It seems to me that their values are diametrically opposed to each other.

Homosexuals wouldn't go to work for a cause that says homosexuality is wrong, seems like. No more than I could go to a group that espouses abortion, or communism.

Unless we assume that conservatism no longer has anything to do with moral issues, but that's not really the case, yet.

I wonder why there are so many black conservatives? Starting with Larry Elder of talk radio and on and through J.C. Watts and that woman who is our Secretary of State, so many of them are black, more than I'd expect.

I wonder why? You'd think the conservative tenants of the Right would preclude an African American from going to work on the conservative side....

/sarcasm

Hint: Anyone whose whole life is dictated by their sex life (or skin color) doesn't understand that human beings are more than just mammals. We have this thing called free will, which allows us not to live our lives as our sex life (or skin color) might otherwise dictate. It's not inconsistent to be gay and against gay marriage or black and against affirmative action. And (although liberals won't tell you this) being against gay marriage makes someone no more a homophobe than being against affirmative action makes someone a racist.

Your reasoning is here sound. However, a homosexual might go to work for a specifically pro-straight-marriage organization cause if he wanted access to data. Political Infiltration. It's also done in businesses -- business infiltration. And in countries with spies.

In this particular thread matter, however.. liberals flung together a bunch of hoohaa. They don't specifically "say" that Mr. Gannon is gay in a double life. Oh, nooo. They play hopskotch with loose data. And their prime argument with him, as they allege, based upon their rumor/insinuation that he is gay, is that at a conservative news site, Talon News, he has asserted or taken position which are anti-gay MARRIAGE. Therefore, and based upon this rubric, they assert him as a hypocrite.

Let the facts be clear here. There is no known evidence that Mr. Gannon is either straight, gay, or A Stranger In a Strange Land named Valentine.

And it is now quite established, factually, that he is not personally, directly, involvedly -- with porno sites. Straight or Gay.

The point of the liberal "dots" is to let the reader "assume" that Mr. Gannon is a) gay, b) a hypocrite, c) and therefore the President must be impeached.

And this "picture" is brought to the world by those who want to see Gay Marriage a reality. And I read today where the upholding of a "gay marriage" ruling was upheld in court in NY today. My, my... oh the timing. And goodness, but the Eason Jordan story still hasn't really aired yet.. but..

Anyway, I hope this makes the points clearer.

You are quite correct, conservatives are a moral people. Moral people uphold timeheld, constitutional standards. And anyone may apply for a daily pass at WH press briefings, regardless of sex, ethnicity, race, and provided that they are indeed a news organization. Jeff's crime? He asked unusual questions! And he actually read something about Valerie Plame "case" that "established credentialed" journalists hadn't seen first (or did and didn't want anyone to know). And now they are mad.

I had to come back. Forget the variables; there is one person in particular who uses this specific form of debate (straw dog thrown in as instant premise, then the piling on through dots). Michael Kinsley.

Goodnight.

All valid points. I don't really know if he is gay, but Terry Dolan and Robert Bauman definitely were.

And in response to the gentleman's reply earlier, conservatism has never said that being BLACK is wrong, but it has said that being homosexual is wrong.

Nonetheless, you bring up a valid point that a gay man might be against gay marriage, but what about someone like Robert Bauman who was SO vehemently against homosexuality, yet died of AIDS he picked up from a teenage male prostitute?

I just wonder if they are conflicted by their homosexuality and thus come out against it, maybe in hopes of defeating it within themselves? I dunno...

I definitely think Gannon should have been allowed to ask questions of President Bush, whether he used a fake name or not.

Shoot, most of the movie stars in Hollywood have fake names. Karl Malden was Maladen Sekulivich, Bob Dylan is Robert Zimmerman, John Wayne was Marion Morrison, etc. Gannon's reasons seemed legit.

Gannon has as much right to a place at a press briefing as anybody else, with his web connections. Same as World Net Daily has a right to be there, or Peter Jennings, who has NO degree, just a malignant dislike of anything Christian, conservative or Republican.

Now, if it DOES turn out that Gannon is a homosexual, then I think he should have said it on his website, so he couldn't be blindsided like this.

You could look at it this way:

1. They got Jeff Gannon.

2. We got Eason Jordan.

We can sustain this rate of attrition for years. They can't.
