"Stewart, who once represented Weather Underground radicals and mob turncoat Sammy "The Bull" Gravano, repeatedly declared her innocence, maintaining she was unfairly targeted by overzealous prosecutors.

But she also testified that she believed violence was sometimes necessary to achieve justice: "To rid ourselves of the entrenched, voracious type of capitalism that is in this country that perpetuates sexism and racism, I don't think that can come nonviolently."

A major part of the prosecution's case was Stewart's 2000 release of a statement withdrawing the sheik's support for a cease-fire in Egypt by his militant followers. Prosecutors, though, could point to no violence that resulted from the statement." snip

At her age a ten year term may well be a death sentence.

She hasn't been sentenced yet and there are still appeals. If the conviction holds her law license is toast.

I am suprised that she was convicted in NY.

I am not people are getting tired of these types. I was at ground zero yesterday and the tourists and NYers I spoke to are angry.
The local media runs stories and in NYC people have relatives or friends . If one saw it live as I did twice it tends to leave an impression.

If this "lawyer" in any way aided her client in contacting his followers, and the purposes of this contact is found to be to propogate violently anti-American or even jihadist commands and instructions among said followers, then this lawyer is guilty of aiding and abetting any terrorist act that may stem from such contact. She is a traitor, and she should be punished in exactly the same ways that the shiek himself is punished.

God help her now, because I sure as hell won't.

"she believed violence was sometimes necessary to achieve justice"

Good, then give her the chair, we wouldn't want her to be deprived of her civil rights and justice.

Wow, I thought Martha Stewart was already in jail, and I had no idea she consorts with terrorists......... :^)

OK, for LYNNE Stewart, it's about time she gets her just desserts.... though with the appeals process she can probably stay free for at least a couple of years more.... unless, as a terrorism case, maybe she can be jailed pending appeal?? But I doubt that, since she was not convicted of actually planting any bombs, etc. Helping a scumbag like the blind terrorist sheikh is bad enough, though - hope she gets jailed for the rest of her days. 20 years is not a long enough sentence for her, but they'd better not reduce it to "3 years with early release" or any crap like that........
