The feast of St. Valentine has become a stage for feminists on 30 American Catholic Universities to attack the Church's traditional moral teaching.
The feast of St. Valentine has become a stage for feminists on 30 American Catholic Universities to attack the Church's traditional moral teaching.
Another St. Valentine’s Day "Massacre"

Feminists on thirty American Catholic universities are planning a new St. Valentine's Day "Massacre," where the Church's traditional moral teaching is the victim, by organizing showings of the lewd play, "The V***** Monologues" in the weeks surrounding St. Valentine's Day. (Asterisks added for the sake of modesty).

The choice of St. Valentine's Day is particularly offensive, since it is a feast day of the Church instituted to honor three martyrs who died to defend the Faith.

According to the Cardinal Newman Society's website (www.cardinalnewmansociety.org), the play is a conglomeration of vulgarities, obscenities and explicit discussions of sexuality and sexual encounters including lesbian activity and masturbation.

Their description continues: "In one scene, a woman describes her seduction by a lesbian woman when she was 16 years old, declaring it her 'salvation' and an important coming-of-age experience. The older woman leads the girl into sex by serving her alcohol and abusing her authority as an elder."

"I cannot imagine an immoral play like this being shown at one Catholic university, let alone thirty of them," said TFP Student Action director John Ritchie. "It's very indicative of the times in which we live!"

Bishop John M. D'Arcy issued a statement regarding this scandal: "Freedom in the academy is always subject to a particular discipline. It is never an absolute… Freedom in the Catholic tradition is not the right to do this rather than that. That would be an entirely superficial idea of freedom… Freedom is the capacity to choose the good."

Now, TFP Student Action web site readers can SEND A PROTEST LETTER to the presidents of all 30 Catholic universities. Everyone needs to be concerned.

After being forced to see the play as part of a class, Christopher, a Catholic student from Massachusetts wrote:

…it was a horrible exhibit of vice, lust, and infidelity. Everything about the play - the content, the performers, the atmosphere - was decidedly opposed to just about everything the Church teaches, whether it be about sexuality, abortion, contraception, holy matrimony, modesty, chastity, vulgarity, humility, reverence, you name it…

Please defend Catholic morality and support students like Christopher.

Pray and sacrifice in reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary for the immorality of our days.

Note: We are grateful to Mr. Patrick Reilly, president of the Cardinal Newman Society, for his efforts to stop this play on Catholic campuses. He kindly provided TFP Student Action with a list of campuses where "The V***** Monologues" is scheduled and of his organization's efforts to have the play banned. Yes it is, many Catholic U's are Catholic in name only. I can see a u. president not knowing everything that goes on but once he's informed he should do the right thing and not show it.

No. Most of these colleges are run by independent (which doesn't exonerate the bishops) religious orders who charge tuition, a lot of tuition. I wonder if parents spending so much money for tuition to catholic schools know that in many times and on many campuses, tenets of the Catholic faith are NOT upheld or held dearly by the administration.

The best advice I could give a young student considering a "famous" Catholic school is...don't. Honestly, I'd tell them to attend a reasonably priced state school and be active in the Newman club or other Catholic organizations.

My reason is that unless you are paying for the name of some of the really, really "prestige" high dollar schools, the cost difference isn't justified and the quality of the environment isn't all that much different that a secular/gov't school.

Just my opinion, but some of the most radical, loony graduate students I have worked with came from well known "religious" colleges, on the other hand, most of the sensible well balanced and faithful (Catholic, Evangelical, etc.) grad students I've met went to a decent state school or small private "no-name" school...just my 2 cents

I am not Catholic, but many of my friends are and I have an affinity for the Mother Church; please explain to me how the SJ has become so incredibly non-Catholic.

I wish I could explain it. Somehow the Jesuit order has been taken over by dark forces from the "Liberation Theology" Marxist bunch to practicing homosexuals. It wasn't like that when I was one of their students (1963-1971). I have read stories about the flagrant queers among their ranks. I can only guess that they became so prideful over their intellectual prowess that the notion of using that gift to humbly serve God and man went out the window.

It is odd that a once highly respected organisation could become corrupted so quickly. If anything, it serves as a lesson to always be on guard.

That's so very true. My 14 year old son is in a Catholic high school, but it is one which is traditional in its views and teachings. Even if there were a Jesuit high school in our area, I would not under any circumstances send him there. Nor will I support either of the Jesuit schools from which I graduated - not that I really have any spare money to contribute anyway.

I guess we should be grateful that we have access to this form of media to not only get the information, but also to share it, so that the "brand name" value of the Jesuits as Catholic educators doesn't fool so many folks.

I know some students from Loyola. In their marketing classes they study how to include homosexuals in advertising.

That's gross. And from a business point of view, it's dumb. Homosexuals make up a very small percentage of the population, less than 2% if I'm not mistaken, sure they say they make up 10% but then again anyone can say anything, like the MSM.

Catholic Colleges are supposed to uphold the tenets of the faith, at the end of the thread I posted a report from the pope addressing this issue.

Are you going to send him to a Catholic College?

I very much doubt it since there are so few that haven't gone around the bend - plus the expense. His Mom works at Vanderbilt University, so if he has the grades he can go there for free and that's kind of hard to pass up.

Yes it is, many Catholic U's are Catholic in name only.

"Many"? These are the largest, the cream of the crop! It's all over. Catholicism will not last another 25 years in this nation.
