Lockin' Up Lynne (Lynne Stewart agonistes)
The New York Post ^ | February 11, 2005 | John Podhoretz

Posted on 02/11/2005 7:00:32 PM PST by quidnunc

Yesterday, a lawyer named Lynne Stewart was convicted for having fi nally followed through on her convictions.

Having said for years that she believed violence was an appropriate way to express political and cultural anger against an unjust system, Stewart stopped merely advocating evil and became an active participant in causing evil.

Having spent decades defending domestic terrorists, she became a party to international terrorism. Having worked on behalf of those who wanted to kill and maim and destroy people in the name of radical change, she decided to stop outsourcing the job and do it herself.

A jury yesterday found Stewart guilty of using her privileged position as the lawyer of the so-called "Blind Sheik," who masterminded the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, to pass messages between the jailed terrorist and his terrorist followers in Egypt.

During a visit to Sheik Omar Abdel el-Rahman's cell in Minnesota in 2000, she and a translator conspired to distract prison officials in order to receive and later deliver a coded directive whose purpose was to initiate new terrorist acts in Egypt.

The sheik spoke the directive to the translator, who transmitted it to Egypt. But there was some question in Egypt about its authenticity — until Stewart called a press conference to authenticate it.

What passed between the sheik and Stewart was not an attorney-client matter, which would have been considered confidential, but rather a terrorist communication in the guise of an attorney-client discussion.

Good article! Defending the monstrosities of crime, rather than just the crimonal, makes one a monster. This lady, using that term with the utmost liberality, turned herself into human garbage on her own. I can only hope that her cheerleaders are quite stupid in regards to her defense. If not, they also fall within the human garbage pile.

Is this what Howeird Dean meant by saying that the rats need to be the party of convictions?

I can think of a few convictions for Hillary, Jacques-Effin, Teddy, i42, etc., etc.....

Seeing her picture, it appears the rotting started long ago. Seesh! My grandfather always said "If you harbor hate it will eat you up from the inside out." She and Ward Churchill both look like the festering is coming to the surface.

Ugly as sin. Is she in jail now? Or walking around free until sentencing? If she can possibly do so, she'll undoubtedly sneak off to Havana or Darfur to blend in with her own kind.

Never forget that MoveOn.Org was the brain child of the National Lawyers Guild.

Lanny Davis is also a member of the communist Lawyers' Guild? Wow, that's a revelation. There was an article here this morning that explained the Guild's shift from defending communists to defending Islamists. Basicly it came down to the enemy of my enemy is my friend, despite the many differences in philosophy between the communists and the radical Islamists. The National lawyers Guild and their associated socialist groups have moved from utopian dreamers to US hating activists (terrorists?)

She had signed a legally binding document promising not to do any such thing so that she could see the sheik in the first place. Apparently, she figured there was no way the government could prove she had knowingly been involved in transmitting the terrorist message. What she didn't know was that everything going on in the sheik's cell was being taped.

In those taped conversations, Stewart and the sheik actually gloated about how they were tricking prison officials.

Evil and stupid.

Why does the judge allow this gross terrorist loving skank to remain free until her sentencing in late summer? She should have been cuffed and stuffed as soon as the jury read the guilty verdict. You already know that this dumb liberal fool never ever thought that she could end up in prison over this. She was another one of those people who think they're untouchable because of who they know. She's going to hate reality.

She's been a leftist fixture for a long time. The Weathermen, Ramsey Clark, Not In Our Name yadda ... she's been there through it all. She's a hard-line Marxist who beleives in and supports revolutionary violence against the capitalist fascist sexist AmeriKKKan patriarchy.

Here she is speaking into the red microphone at the Sparks Fly conference of Political Prisoners US.

Her conviction is a great moment for civilization.

The more pertinent question is, why the delay in sentencing? It doesn't take an "Einstein" to figure out that the only posible motive for delaying the asessment of an appropriate penalty for her crimes are motive that would work solely in her favor, or indeed, offer her an opportunity to flee the country for France or some other refuge...

The timeline is not unusual for federal court sentencing. A PSR, pre-sentence report, must be prepared by the federal probation office, submitted to the defendant and the prosecution prior to sentencing. They also have the opportunity to file objections or corrections to the report. That period is an additional 14 days after the report is completed. The PSR is a very extensive document, generally running 40-50 pages even in a simple case. It generally covers the defendant's life from the cradle to the time of sentencing.
