"...The scene where Kirk shouts "We the People!" would irritate a whole bunch of liberals."

Ah, yes... the E Plebnista. "Kohms" really *are* only for killing, y'know. ;-)

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Richard Dean Anderson's character was based on the Kirk Russell part in the Movie in which he plays an Army colonel. Of course he carries a gun in that part, but he has stated that his personal political opinion is that a firearm has no place in the life of a private civilian. If you can show me where he has refuted that belief I will be glad to start watching SG1.

The Sci-Fi Channel does that "Stargate SG-1: The Lowdown" behind-the-scenes show each season. Last season, Richard Dean Anderson commented on all the military firearms shown in the series, and about how people on the set are always joking about "wood" when the larger weapons are featured. He then said that all that hardware has lead people to think that he's in favor of all that, and that his feelings on the subject were "very much to the contrary".

Just another elitist Hollywood type, who is either sincere in his anti-gun sentiments, or is "playing the game" to prevent getting Tom Sellecked. I'll watch the show, but you won't catch me putting any money directly in the guy's pocket by purchasing stuff like DVD Season sets and such (that's why I gots me a ReplayTV) ;^)

"I practically grew up with Star Trek, but even I couldn't stand Enterprise. It lacked chemistry, humor, and other intangibles that made most of the other shows work."

Oh don't forget one Charismatic character people could root for. For me, other series had a myraid choices--here there was only PORTHOS!

I turned off mainly due to it's blatant attempt to re-write in Star Trek history by the score. I totally lost respect for the producers when they put on the Ferenghi (sp) episode--It was said in the 1st NG episode they appeared in that Starfleet had never seen them, yet this crew does? Do they think the fans are going to forget facts like that? Sometimes I felt they were throwing scenes (and actors) out to grab and audience.

You bring up a pretty good point. I believe first contact with the Klingons was always understood to be in the 23rd Century (fairly early). Yet in the mid-22nd Century, there they are in the first episode. And yes, about the Ferengi, I believe Captain Picard in around 2340 was the first to encounter the Ferengi when his previous ship was attacked. I may be off on dates, but I know that the show was rewriting Trek history a bit.
