Did Dean pay his staff?

TOPICS: Government; Miscellaneous; News/Current Events; US: Vermont
KEYWORDS: deadbeat; dean; deaniacs; did; no; pay; staff
I need a little help here, Freepers.

I seem to recall an article somewhere that when Dean realized that he was going nowhere near the presidency he decided to start a new effort to "energize" some other liberal-socialist faction to "Save America" or some such crap.

My recollection was that in order to get his new gig off the ground he needed money and therefore was NOT going to pay the staff people who had been busting their butts for him for a year.

I think this info might be useful to have "on file".

Anybody got any links or clues to the "no pay" issue?

I am pretty sure he paid off everyone. You don't get elected to DNC w/ something like that. GOP would have hit him over the head with that everyday.

There was an NYTimes Magazine article, and a Wired magazine article about it. Almost all of Dean's/Trippi's tech people were unpaid volunteers living on small stipends, don't know about district/state campaign staffs though.

Only if the GOP didn't want him elected. Now they might use it.

Why would the GOP care if he gains power in the DNC ?

Would seem counter productive to attack him. With Dean in charge we're better off letting him go and just keep payin out rope.........

GOP wants him in charge. Then next year before elections, they would use that fact to hammer him and Dems. How can you cheat your staff out of their wages, Dr. Dean?....

I don't know how many paid staff he had. He was blessed with a lot of volunteers--I know a couple of them.
