The idiot Democrats figured they would use the truth (New Media) to their advantage.

They were wrong. I imagine some IP traces are being conducted from CA as we speak.

I regret to add this, but this also shows how easy it is for the Democrats to invalidate the content on this board. A few 'newbies' can try and smear an entire site, and they can have the Washington comPost back them up on it.

I bet the comPost has a major role in this, and I'd guess this wasn't a crapshoot.

Bookmarked!

What amazes me is that they used FR like this.

We would not be interested in this inane gossip about a dem mayor, so that sorta misdirected me until I figured out they were setting up the Governors hatchet man, according to what they believed him to be.

They claim he was cleaning out the dem partisans from the admin.

It was pay back. It was a skirmish which they won.

I was impressed!

This board is validated in my eyes.

I see this as an attack by the MSM to keep their own tepid hold on the education of the ignorant masses.

A nice try by the MSM, but I think they will find that this will backfire on them once the truth comes out.

There have apparently been nearly a dozen WashPost articles about this situation, its more coverage than they gave the Iraqi election, the downfall of Eason Jordan or Dan Rather...

I'm seeing this like you except I also believe this was done to show that the 'blogs' (of which FR doesn't qualify) are supposedly full of rumor and innuendo. This means they are all worthless to the MSM. A well done salvo, yet it needs to be defended vigorously.

I can only hope that some IP traces were conducted by JimRob and the crew.

What a surprise! j/k

The positive of this is that the Wash comPost sees itself in a battle for survival with a website that is made up of ordinary folk commenting and dissecting the 'news'.

That, to me, says it all. We are winning, and the elites are meeting us at eye level. Says a lot, eh?

Sure does, and the press on FR has really not been that bad from what I see.(unless you can point me to something I have not seen)

Most of it seems to mention the FR name and some mistake it as a blog, but none seemed to infer that we were anything more than a vehicle for the transactions.

It seems to me that rabid dems might be interested, but no one else.

I may be wrong, but if they were really trying to hit blogs, or trash FR, they would do better.

Perhaps it is the risk of a law suit however.

If I am off base, let me know. I have not read all the stories. But I have seen other stories of late, that do seem to demonize blogs. They do come from MSM sources, but don't seem to have much effect.

They really trashed that guy from Talon however.

BALTIMORE SUN HAS PROVED ITS OWN LIBERAL BIAS-

"Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry was having an affair. But when the mainstream media began chasing that story, it proved groundless."

--There were several sources out there stating that they knew about the affair. Mainstream media did not chase the story. They only stated what Kerry and the Girl stated.

"Rumors of O'Malley's alleged infidelity have long circulated in Baltimore but were not printed in such daily newspapers as The Sun or The Washington Post. "

--Why has the Baltimore Sun and the Washington Post refused to look into the "rumors". Shouldn't they post accountings of their investigative reporting and research on the issue....

SHAMELESS RHETORIC OF THE DAY: MARTIN O'MALLEY By Michelle Malkin   ·   February 09, 2005 01:48 PM

snip... On a separate note, O'Malley was caught up in this very unpleasant story involving a conservative activist/aide to Maryland Gov. Bob Ehrlich who apparently spread rumors of infidelity by O'Malley in e-mails and on FreeRepublic.com, where other posters were engaging in speculation about O'Malley's private affairs. Gov. Ehrlich deserves credit for immediately firing the rumor-mongerer (who posts on FreeRepublic today here). Some GOP insiders are complaining about the timing of the story and seem to be justifying the rumor-spreading on the Internet by noting that the rumors have been floating around the capitol for a while. That doesn't make the whisper campaign right. I feel very badly for O'Malley's wife and kids, who reportedly have had to face these ugly rumors at school. O'Malley's to blame, his critics will say. Maybe so, but it's the O'Malley family's own damned business, and no one else's.

-----------------

from "Show Biz Ireland"

And just to show just how much of a desirable place Dublin is for musicians The Mayor of Baltimore - the much tipped future President of The USA (yes you heard it here first), Martin O'Malley brought his bulging biceps and rockin' tunes to Eamon Dorans to show there is still some soul in politics... Good Man yerself!

Lawyer Martin O'Malley, Balitmore's youngest ever Mayor, also leads O'Malley's March, an Irish folk rock band which has played in town pubs for the last 12 years.

The forged Guard documents and the captured GI Joe story are two excellent examples of FR ferreting out the truth.

I've followed many of these O'Malley threads (many with 100's of posts) and have concluded that MD4Bush was a democrat plant who baited NCPAC to comment on his (MD4Bush's) salacious post about the affair. MD4Bush then released them to the Sun and the Post.

Because of the thousands of posts on the subject the truth is not easily found by visitors to FR - apparently since Michelle Malkin doesn't get it yet. Mort Kondrake on the Beltway Boys briefly mentioned the story - only the part about an aid to Ehrlich having to resign for spreading rumors about O'Malley.

Maybe the problem lies in our adhering to published article's titles. A visitor to FR may not take the time to read hundreds of posts to discover the facts freepers have uncovered. We certainly need a way to boldly draw attention to theses facts.

The positive of this is that the Wash comPost sees itself in a battle for survival with a website that is made up of ordinary folk commenting and dissecting the 'news'.

Twice in two or three days Howie Kurtz has had a column LOADED with snarkiness about the "blogosphere."

In the Blogosphere, Lightning Strikes Thrice"

is one and there is another one about Eason Jordan that I can't locate right now.

In the one I can't located, he actually said that the story would have "fizzled out" if not for the internet, implying it was driven needlessly farther than it needed to be.

It's sounding more and more like Howie's beginning to get the picture that WE don't need HIM to tell us what's "what" with the press anymore.

It's only going to get more frantic with these people are they realize how irrelevant they are becoming.

His show today should be really interesting.

Even a thread screaming "THE WASHINGTON POST HAS BEEN HAD!" probably wouldn't do the trick. In actuality, they haven't been had, they are part of this smear, they know it, and they are doing everything they can to propagate the portion of a story that meets their partisan needs.

The links you so generously provided above (as you do for many subjects) contain over a thousand posts. The mainstream is comprised of people who won't even google "democrat quote Saddam WMD" much less wade through this many replies for the truth.

Nonetheless, the service you provide is invaluable and I thank you for your efforts.

Still searching for a solution,

Quilla

Precisely.

What we are seeing is an electronic revival of the old "broadsheets" that used to be published all over America- I did some research about the local ones here, and my God!, were they opinionated! But you knew where they stood, too.

But the internet and talk radio are better, because we ( all of us! ) can talk back to them.
It shakes the truth, and facts, out rather quickly.

A true cautionary tale for FReepers. NCPAC had a bunch of enemies in the MD dems and their media enablers. I'm sure he felt pretty secure here at FR among fellow FReepers. Unfortunately, the other side has some crafty and unethical operatives. I've got to give them some credit here, it was a sneaky little ploy and well executed.

Take care FRiends.

Are you saying they will voluntarily reveal the identity of MD4BUSH just as they did for NCPAC? I'm afraid we will have to wait for the investigation results before the cohorts of Ceci Connelly give us the truth.
