Attorney Claims Lesbian Teachers Using Schools to Push Homosexual Lifestyle

(AgapePress) - A California school district may be taken to court after a group of high school teachers began blatantly promoting homosexuality in their classrooms.

Recently a group of lesbian teachers in the Scotts Valley Unified School District (Santa Cruz County) started hanging pro-homosexual posters in their classrooms, discussing homosexuality in their classrooms, and providing referrals to homosexual and bisexual organizations to students questioning their sexuality. Numerous parents have complained to school officials, who said they would investigate matters. However, no administrative correction has been initiated in response to the complaints.

Brad Dacus, president of the Pacific Justice Institute, says the teachers are engaged in a campaign of homosexual indoctrination, and are using anti-harassment laws as a soapbox for state-sponsored endorsement of their lifestyle. And they seem to be getting the support to do so, not only from the district, but from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and area homosexual organizations as well.

"We know it's a very liberal community," Dacus notes, "a very hostile, intolerant community for the rights of parents, and intolerant towards those people of faith who do not openly accept and embrace homosexuality and other forms of deviant lifestyles." Although he says PJI is not really expecting the Santa Cruz County school officials to implement changes, he says his legal group is "hoping they'll take it under serious consideration."

The PJI attorney feels the school district is being hypocritical since, even as the teachers are engaging in their pro-homosexual conduct under the guise of tolerance, posters celebrating traditional families are not allowed. However, he points out that complaints from outraged parents have had virtually no effect on the school administrators.

The officials have even ignored requests from district parents that the pro-homosexual posters be taken out of the classrooms and pinned instead on public bulletin boards where a student would have the option of reading or ignoring them, or that they be placed alongside posters showing competing viewpoints.

A Hostile Environment for Pro-Family Values A number of the dissenting parents have argued that the students are a captive audience being forced to confront high-pressure influence from militantly pro-homosexual teachers who stand in a position of authority over them, as well as from aggressive homosexual students. According to PJI's sources, a student who is not interested in joining a "diversity club" at school is sometimes subjected to obscene gestures and other forms of harassment from homosexual peers.

According to Dacus, what is happening in some of the district schools is that pro-homosexual teachers are being allowed to create a hostile environment for students who hold faith-based or traditional values that regard homosexuality as immoral. "Pro-homosexual indoctrination, unfortunately, has become not the exception but almost the rule for most California schools as well as for other schools in liberal parts of this country," he says.

But while homosexual groups and the ACLU reportedly claim this type of tolerance and diversity education is needed for schools to comply with anti-harassment laws, the head of PJI says this is misleading. He contends that U.S. lawmakers never meant to enable teachers or school officials to use the anti-harassment legislation as a tool for promoting homosexuality through the public education system.

Nevertheless, Dacus asserts, it is happening and cannot be ignored. "Parents need to wake up," he says, "and they need to realize that public education can actually be a very harmful, very damaging thing for their children if they're not careful." However, the attorney reminds pro-family citizens that anti-harassment laws were not written exclusively for homosexuals but to apply equally to all Americans, including those who hold traditional values.

PJI sent an attorney to address the trustees of the Scotts Valley School Board at a meeting held last Monday, which focused exclusively on the poster controversy. At the heart of the discussion was a complaint filed more than two years ago by a district parent regarding the display of the pro-homosexual posters in district classrooms. The Santa Cruz Sentinel reports that more than 400 people attended the February 7 school board meeting, which went on until almost 11 p.m.

The Scotts Valley School Board took no action, but board president Sue Roth and Superintendent Stephen Fiss planned to meet again to discuss the issue further. Roth was quoted in the Sentinel as saying she is not sure anything needs to be done, but she would hope the parent who filed the initial complaint will not pursue a lawsuit.

Hah, this woman was pretty much a bitch to begin with and had made some questionable remarks to the girls she was coaching.

What is so ridiculous is that they'll argue and argue that they're born this way, that their 'gay rights' are inherent because of that, yet they go out of their way to try to recruit kids into the lifestyle.

I'm betting that they made fun of her for a different reason. I can't recall a single one of my high school or junior high female gym teachers that wasn't obviously lesbian.

Isn't that likened to the proverbial "Fox guarding the Henhouse"?

I mean...many years ago I was a member of a Sports Club..that had a couple gay dudes that lingered in the locker rooms...especially around the showers. It was a joke...and no amount of complaining changed the situation.

If they can do that...I should be able to use the women's locker room...after all I'm a male lesbian.

FWIW-

SUE them till they squeal like the pigs they are!

This is the only way we're going to get our country back.

Yes, I realize we taxpayers STILL get screwed in the end, but we conservatives have GOT to stop the 'don't-rock-the-boat' mentality & bitch-slap the liberals with the LAW!

The only action that will get the school board to act is when parents pull their kids out of the school. Those withdrawals represent lost federal dollars.

If they're not willing and ready to do that, they're just whistling into the wind.

I'd believe it. An x-girlfriend of mine's best friend taught in Durham NC. You would be shocked at just how many of her friend's female co-teachers were lesbians.

We once had a lesbian tennis instructor at our school who came into the girls locker room (swinging her racket) and said she could lick everybody in the room.

I wonder why the students, or the parents or guardians, can't file a sexual harassment suit, or at least say they find the displays "offensive," and demand that they be removed from the classrooms. Hell, that's all the leftists need to refer a conservative to "sensitivity training." Just say you're "offended."

LOL so so true! To believe they are born that way, one must also believe they have no choice in what they act on. If that were so, the person who cheats on a spouse, was born that way. The woman who finds herself pregnant and unmarried, was born that way, she couldn't control what she felt.

Also a wise Pastor once tole me, marriage is about more than just love, it's about a promise to love, through all life's ups and downs. He further reiterated, that everyone at a specific point, albeit unconscious one, decides to love another person. With that in mind, love is also a choice, as is WHO you love. Takes away the whole argument these gays throw in all directions every single day!

With the recent articles regarding the immergence of a new virulent strain of HIV and the spread of a new more serious strain of chlamydia among sexually promiscuous homosexuals, I don't see how the schools can continue to teach that homosexuality is an acceptable life style choice. I am waiting for a law suit against some school district for unduly influencing a minor to make a decision that could cost him his life. I can't imagine why this has happened in the case of abortion, where a girl is aided in obtaining an abortion and later regrets it.

Time to privatize education. Notice how the left demands taxpayer dollars to promote their dogma. If the taxpayers refuse, the left screams, "censorship."

OPEN PUBLIC DISCUSSION - Limited to 15 minutes:

Members of the audience are welcome to address the Board at this time during the meeting regarding items not listed on the agenda. The Trustees may ask questions for clarity but cannot take action on those matters, if desired, until such matters are appropriately placed on a future agenda, according to law.

The Governing Board may prohibit members of the public, who speak during the time permitted on the agenda for public expression, from commenting on matters that are not within the subject matter jurisdiction of the governing body. The Governing Board retains the discretion to adopt regulations at its meetings to limit the time for public discussion of items within its subject matter jurisdiction. Open Public Discussion at the beginning of the meeting is limited to 15 minutes. Additional time is provided at the end of the meeting for continued discussion and comment. For the record, please state your name at the beginning of your statement.

(A) Audience Input Don D’Andrea, SVHS parent, reported that in May of 2003 he had written a letter to the Board of Trustees and to then SVHS Principal, Ken Thomas and the Superintendent regarding an Ed Code violation having to do with classroom comments by teachers. Mr. D’Andrea wanted other parents to be aware and to express their opinions. Mr. D’Andrea went on to say that the Pacific Justice Institute was providing him with regular legal support. He stated that there are two issues that he has been trying to resolve with Mr. Fiss and the high school principal. One being postings that “openly gay/lesbian teachers” have in their classrooms. The other being the “Queer Youth Award” vote within the classroom. Mr. D’Andrea feels that his child is a "captive" in that classroom when this is going on. He went on to state that he had offered alternatives and all had been rejected. He asked for more balance in the postings. He stated that he was hoping that the audience would express their concerns. He felt that his moral and religious beliefs were not being responded to. Superintendent Fiss responded by stating that Mr. Thomas, Mr. D’Andrea and himself had met several times and the meetings have continued with Ms. Serigstad. He stated that Mr. D’Andrea has been very clear with his point of view. He stated that they had been able to meet some accommodations, but not all. Board President Smith asked regarding Mr. D’Andrea’s complaint stating that the first letter was by nature a parent complaint and that the District's procedure was used. He stated that the original complaint was filed in writing and was responded to in a timely manner. Superintendent Fiss stated that he did respond after reviewing the facts with Principal Thomas. He had met with Mr. D’Andrea and a Pacific Justice legal representative. Ms. Serigstad has met with Mr. D’Andrea on several occasions since beginning work at the high school this past summer. He went on to say that this has gone on longer than usual as all parties have been trying to find a mutually satisfactory resolution and had not been able to do that. He stated that Mr. D’Andrea had obtained legal council. Mr. D’Andrea stated that his original letter was not responded to and that after months had transpired Mr. Fiss gave him the formal complaint process. There was no response from any Board member. He stated that the two issues were still not resolved and that he was not at the meeting to argue, but to seek public opinion. He stated that many parents share his opinion. Student Board Member Pearleen Sangha stated that she understood what Mr. D’Andrea was saying and that she shared some of his views. She stated that she attends those classrooms with the postings. She stated that those teachers are some of the best teachers she has had and that possibly he could meet with them personally and talk about his issues. She stated that what is posted on a classroom wall doesn’t really matter much at the end of the day. Kim Busselle, SVHS teacher, added that there were also postings regarding Martin Luther King, the Holocaust, and of acceptance regardless of religion. She stated that two years ago when she started at the high school the number one cause of harassment was due to sexual orientation or perceived sexual orientation. She went on to say that a new Assembly Bill was providing an umbrella of safety; that he may not like seeing things in a classroom, but it is critical in order to make a safe environment for all to learn.

Jerryne King, SVHS parent, expressed her frustration at addressing the same issues as Mr. D’Andrea and working within the system for the past four years with no satisfaction. She stated that she had met with Superintendent Fiss, Mr. Thomas and Ms. Serigstad and in those meetings there has been respect and she has been listened to; however, there has been no action taken. She asked for a change in Board members. She stated that it is important that as parents they hear what is happening in the classroom and that it seems there is room for improvement as Mr. D’Andrea has had no action for 2 1/2 to 3 years. Board Vice President Niday explained that the Board has special rules and are not in a position to respond to every complaint that comes in. If an item is brought to the Board for action then they will take action. She further stated that she has made it a point to respond to every email she receives. At this point there was an outburst by Mr. D’Andrea. Ms. Niday stated that according to the bylaws she was not able to engage in a discussion at this time as this item is not on the agenda. It must be brought to the Board first as an Information Item and then later for action. She stated that there is a process and there is significant effort being put forth by the staff.

I don't know how many people remember the 1978 "Briggs Initiative" on the California ballot---known as "Proposition 6" that election year---which would have barred open homosexuals from teaching in California public schools. The reason for the initiative was precisely the fear of the blatant recruitment and propaganda we see in this article. Needless to say, the campaign against the Briggs Initiative ridiculed these concerns, the voters apparently found them outlandish, and the intiative failed.
