Study predicts city flood threat due to warming By Susan Milligan, Globe Staff | February 15, 2005 WASHINGTON -- By the end of this century, global warming threatens to raise the sea level enough that a heavy storm would send flood waters into Boston's downtown waterfront, the Financial District, and much of the Back Bay, based on projections in a federally funded report to be released today. The five-year study, commissioned by the US Environmental Protection Agency and completed by university researchers, indicates that the mildest impact of global warming would leave local landmarks such as Massachusetts General Hospital, the Public Garden, the Esplanade, and MIT in a pool of water after a strong storm surge in the harbor. Global warming, which melts polar ice and has been gradually raising the atmospheric temperature, could actually cause the sea level in the Boston area to rise as much as 3 feet in the next 100 years, the researchers predict.

"commissioned by the US Environmental Protection Agency"
Can we ask what good the EPA does?
Most of their policies have only made things worse.

It was written about the sinking of LA, but it works for Boston as well:

Some say the end is near.
Some say we’ll see armageddon soon.
I certainly hope we will.
I sure could use a vacation from this
Bullsh*t three ring circus sideshow of freaks

One great big festering neon distraction,
I’ve a suggestion to keep you all occupied.

I say let Back Bay return to the state of nature as a swampland.

And John Kerry can row his way from the shores of Beacon Hill over to the airport.

Cool. Maybe my house in central MA will end up being an ocean-front property.

Study predicts Boston will be flood threat due to Global warming

This will be followed by Global Cooling (as predicted in the 70's) triggering a 'mini ice age." Sea levels will drop, extending the coats line of all continents and creating valuable property. All in all, everything will balance out. ;-)

Sarcasm:
Time to start building protective walls around Boston's most exposed and endangered areas.
On top of this, they urgently need to build housing to accept flood victims.
Being prepared is everything.
Funds will flow in from additional 4% sales taxes in Ma.
PS. Flood victim housing in the interim could be occupied by the homeless, but when time comes....

Yep. That, and the ancient water mains that keep bursting and flooding subway stations, etc.

Boston is already drowning.
