Fishing isn't nearly as fun when you're too young to do it with beer.
I feel the same about all professional sports. I enjoy watching High School and Collegiate sports, for the most part, but I'd just as soon watch my neighbor work at his auto shot as watch a bunch of overpaid professional sports figures play. In fact, I might learn something by watching my neighbor.
As for fishing shows...I've never seen anything more boring. Watching Bill Dance catch yet another bass just puts me right to sleep. "Catch ya again later."
Since I grew up in California, hockey just wasn't a participation sport there. No interest for me.
I absolutely agree with you about high school and collegiate sports. I don't know if it's because these kids (boys and girls) are just hungry for competition, there's no money on the line (not like the pros), or they're just not tainted by the money adulation that seems to go with pro sports.
But, by far, they beat pro sports on television hands down. I don't like basketball much (grew up in Canada), but I love March Madness. I hate the NBA playoffs.
Same with attending high school games. Love 'em.
>>I guess this means ESPN will be showing more reruns of the World Series of Poker.
No, baseball's coming up soon (spring training). The folks who will really be starved for programming are up in Canada. I read that the longtime show "Hockey Night In
Canada" is now "Movie Night in Canada" (Slapshot? The
Mighty Ducks?)
