Have you thought that maybe they may be making fun of the same-sex marriage agenda. You know they do have the Smithers-Burns thing going on. Do you even watch? The Simpsons are typically fair when it comes to taking potshots.

hate to say this but while surfing TV a "King of the Hill" show had a story about Indians being sold small pox blankets. Crazy gay and anti-White American man stuff is every where.

"...I just think Smithers is too obvious. They'll have to pick someone else...."

The character to wed in the upcoming episode is one of the Bouvier sisters. Supposedly, it is the sister who previously was involved with actor Troy McClure ("You may have seen me in ....). McClure was on the rebound after the unfortunate incident with "the fish" at a public aquarium.

And the show has always had an anti-religious bent,

I believe it's the only show on television where the family of main characters is regularly shown attending church.

1) It's clear you don't watch King of the Hill much

2) I've never remotely heard of such an episode.

Fee it is a cartoon and excellent social commentary on the state of the world today. It allows all to laugh at the stupid thing that we do in society, it is not trying to forward an agenda unlike the PBS cartoon. So relax, and belive me if you start a campagin to try to get it pulled off the air you are more likely to end up as a episode yourself.

This is DISGUSTING! I've already written the FOX channel about this, told them it was inappropriate

I hope you didn't mention Free Republic in your letter.

I find it surprising that Freepers would be so staunch in support of this show. Surprising in the manner that any on this forum could support Howard Stern.

I don't watch this show, but what I do know is that Fox has been advertising snippets from the upcoming episode all this week, and they are disgusting. Whether they intend the episode as a parody, spoof or whether they are downright sympathetic, it was disgusting. Fee ~ more power to you!

On two different occasions, I was watching a show with my 12-year old when the commercial ad came on, and had to switch the channel. Another time, my wife saw a snippet and was equally disgusted without any prompting from me.

I have not watched The Simpsons in years. I would just prefer that people refrain from letter writing campaigns before they actually see the show. It might turn out differently than imagined (then again, it might not).

Bashing stuff without seeing it seems to be a cottage industry on FR now (The Alamo, Million Dollar Baby, etc.)

I'm betting my chips that this turns out to be very pro-gay marriage. Sure, they'll take some tired old shots at gay effemininity (sp)...but the Simpsons has become more and more liberal...Lisa recently became a non-Christian, for example. And the show has always had an anti-religious bent, consistent with Groening's "Life in Hell" comic strips.

I didn't realize that only Christians could be Conservatives. Thanks for the update.,p/> /sarcasm off

"Because I'm black?"

Bwahahahaha!

Ya know, I had no idea of your race; I didn't bother reading your little tagline thingie. Fee, I don't think it's possible for me to give less of a damn what color or gender or race or whatever you are. It's pathetically telling that you would immediately play the Race card, though - not something a conservative would do.

No, Fee, what makes me think that you're a troll is that getting upset over a Simpsons episode would be completely retarded. The Simpsons is known for lampooning its subject matter, especially left-wing topics. If they're going to air an episode about gay marriage, it's very likely that they will end up mocking the hell out of it.

Getting angry with the Simpsons for airing an episode about gay marriage will accomplish two things: 1) It would make the conservative protesters look petty, angry, and simple-minded; and 2) It would provide negative feedback to the Simpson's producers for airing an episode that is ultimately right-friendly, thus making them think, in the long run, that maybe they would receive more favorable ratings with a more leftward leaning. Both results would only be favorable to the Left, and thus trying to drum up anti-Simpsons sentiments here on FR would be exactly something a left-wing troll would do.

Maybe I should ask you for your forgiveness that we're not as stupid as you seem to think we are, but I won't.

If the Simpsons is so bad I hope you don't watch any of those trashy "reality" shows. I would never support that idiot Stern but love the Simpsons. What is wrong with laughing at your foibles as a society. Talk to your kids, help them understand what this about and enforce your personal views either for or against. Censoring children from something as banile as the Simpsons isn't helping them grow at all. But then again there are a lot of people who sit down and watch Survivor with their family each week. Myself I can't stand that tripe.

They mock everything that's not proof. But there is a Christian group in England that dresses up like Ned Flanders who has been said to embody the traits a good Christian should (charity, humility). The Archbishop of Canterbury has called the show profoundly moral.
