The Scandal That Keeps on Giving (More Gannon stuff - Yaaaawn!)
Washington Post ^ | 2/18/05

Posted on 02/18/2005 10:24:23 AM PST by areafiftyone

The story of the phony White House reporter who called himself Jeff Gannon just gets curiouser and curiouser every day -- and shows no sign of abating.

Quite the contrary, in fact. After only occasionally burbling out of the realm of bloggers and media watchers over the past few weeks, the story exploded onto network television last night.

And after a few days in which the chatter was fixated on the salacious associations that bloggers uncovered between James D. Guckert (Gannon's real name) and gay escort Web sites, the focus is back on a serious public policy question: Why was a non-journalist asking slanted non-questions welcomed into the White House Briefing room?

well, I haven't seen evidence he hosted gay escort sites, and I haven't seen evidence he did anything untoward...as quickly and vociferously as republicans weed out their own two-faced people, I would have expected more.
That all of this is coming from the dishonest left gives me pause, and while I can't definitively refute what anyone says one way or the other, my understanding of behavioral patterns within subsystems causes me to think, for my own regard, that there is no "there" there in this story.
maybe I just haven't looked hard enough to find it, since I consider Jeff no more to the right than the rest of the White House press contingent is to the left

Oh dear God !! I remember that day as clear as it was yesterday. The entire WORLD knew that Bush was going to speak and everyone pretty much KNEW what ha was going to say. It didn't take a rocket scientist to predict that Bush was going to declare war in that speech.

This is absolutely idiotic.

Like the Nader guy (I admit to being too lazy right now to look up his name...Ralph M-something?) asking his oh-so-balanced question about how President Bush applies the 6th Commandment to Iraq? That question was asked in the WH briefing room, too (like hundreds of other slanted and poisonous questions from the vaunted "MSM").

The timing thing is explained implicitly in Fleischer's interview.

Here you go: The entity Gannon first worked for was called "GOPUSA" obviously. Why else would Fleischer have been concerned that he worked for an outfit tied to the RNC. He would not have gotten that idea from "Talon News".

Shortly after that Eberle created his Talon News outlet, affiliated but separate from his GOPUSA site.

Simple, is it not? Unless one wishes to catch the Bush WH in some kind of SCANDAL.

On DU, they got all excited because somebody posted a picture they said was Bush hugging Gannon. They called it the "Monica Moment."

Their excitement continued for a while, until one of the relative geniuses over there pointed out that the bald guy Bush was hugging in the picture was a black guy.

Hey, WaPo, maybe Gannon forgot that there were nekkid pictures of him soliciting gay sex on the internet. You know, kinda like Sandy Berger forgot there were ultra top secret national security documents stuffed into his socks and pants? Maybe that will "explode onto network television" one of these days, huh?

If they insist that this story is important, then you would think that they would have new information with each mention, other than "this story has legs."

My theory is that they are upset that a pervert, normally a Democrat constituent, is actually a Bush supporter. I mean, come on, we all know some Christians vote democrat, it only makes sense that some percentage of perverts and ex-cons would vote Republican.

We know that Hillary has called for all felons to be allowed to vote, afraid that they may be losing the felon support, of which they greatly depend, so too I guess they have to fight to maintain the pervert vote.

That has to be it. Has to be. There's no other explanation.

I can just picture them hyperventilating as they have to keep twisting their story to "fit" the set of facts at hand.

It was aggravating then funny, then aggravating now funny again.

LOL

The offending question was how could the president work in a bipartisan manner with such strong Democrat attacks. It was far more interesting than the standard MSN dribble. I hope a few more internet reporters get in to ask such questions. A reporter for a legitimate news site (internet based) doesn't have to have a journalism degree. They need an ability to write and curiosity.

While his sexual background probably should have been caught, I seriously doubt that sexual background checks for daily press briefing passes are standard operating procedure in the Bush White House.

The stupidity of left-wing conspiracy freaks never ceases to amaze me. Jeff Gannon is basically just a more conservative version of Andrew Sullivan.

Simple, is it not?

I understand it completely, it's the left that can't seem to figured out who JG was employed by.

LOL - anyone can tell that just by looking at the hair even if the guy has his back to the photographer! Gannon is totally bald in all his pictures.
