Eugene Robinson says DNC Takes Black People For Granted
C-Span 2

Posted on 02/18/2005 8:09:45 PM PST by onyx eyes

Today, on Friday, February 18, 2005, the Associate Editor and Columnist of The Washington Post, Eugene Robinson, was a guest on C-Span 2. Mr. Robinson says that the Democrats take black people for granted. Mr. Robinson says that although there are black people represented in lower ranks of the DNC, that there needs to be more visible representation of blacks and hispanics for the Democrats. Mr. Robinson also said, he didn't understand why the John Kerry campaign did not have more black people visible during the election process. Mr. Eugene Robinson also said that he understood that the school voucher program, put in place by President Bush, was appreciated by the black community, and that may have some impact on how they feel about what the parties are doing for them.

My comment and question, is; and please forgive me for this; I have a long-burning desire to ask the black community why they insist on being a "group".

Go on and tell me I am ignorant, but, I would like to see the "black community", drop the skin-color thing, move past the past of what our fathers, grandfathers did many years ago and just be regular Americans. No matter how they vote, they would be better to consider themselves just plain ordinary Americans.

I am white, as you may have guessed. Once again, my apologies, but, I had to ask.

The DNC publicly denigrates them to nothing and the blacks must perceive themselves as needing the Democrats even though the rats hardly help the blacks.

I agree with you.

And the Democrats need to stop bombarding the blacks with the idea that if they don't vote Democrat, they're betraying their race. And besides, they're voting for the party that supported their slavery in the first place. I believe it was us Republicans that liberated them.

You miss the point. They don't insist on being a group. Liberals insist on them being a group.

I disagree with the limitation of this statement. The DEMS take the black community for granted. The DEMS TAKE ALL of their constituency for granted.

Their supporters are only valuable during elections, after that, the DEMS discard all the promises, and continue on their hunt for wealth and power

Not so, that's why the dems give the fully segregated, step-n-fetchit, colored only
caucus, the Congressional Black Caucus, their own group, to keep them out of trouble. Why, Kleagle Byrd, himself, often asks a Black Caucus member to step on over and fetch some thing for him just to prove how important they are to Byrd's primary organization. They keep the field hands in line and voting the right way. There is no need for the dems to change their views of blacks as long as the blacks continue to do what they are told. It is just like since before the Civil War.

I totally agree. With you, and the others who have answered here. It's a shame that we republicans are --- or have been --- put in a "bad light" by the propaganda of the Leftists, and the followers of the DNC machine. Since, we, republicans are really open and fair-minded. Don't know about you, but, I intend to fight the propaganda with all of my might and time and ideas that I get.

In 04 more blacks voted for Republicans than in 00. In 06 more blacks will vote GOP than voted GOP in 04. In 08 more blacks will vote GOP than will vote GOP in 06.
The rats have trouble coming.
