At a glance: SV40 is a virus found in some species of monkey. Soon after its discovery in 1960, SV40 was found in polio vaccine.

Over 98 million Americans received one or more doses of polio vaccine during the period (1955-1963) when some of the vaccine was contaminated with SV40. SV40 has been found in certain types of human cancers, but it has not been determined that SV40 causes these cancers. The majority of evidence suggests there is no causal relationship between receipt of SV40-contaminated vaccine and cancer; however, some research results are conflicting and more studies are needed.

The Cutter incident and the piggyback virus in vaccines is taught very well in professional advanced virology and immunology. It is watched for religiously in the making of vaccines using cell lines. There have been some vaccines made that were contaminated with live togaviruses that were hidden in the irradiated bovine serum that the cell lines were being bathed. These happenings occur but to the best efforts with the technology at the present time, vaccine makers do their best to make a pure product.

It is odd that it would take so long. I can do it in a couple of weeks. Developing a PCR assay isn't that difficult.

This has been a low level story for sometime. Several other studies have discounted the link. However, if you received polio injections, which a large number of US citizens did, then you should be concerned, IMHO. I have family members who are going through cancer treatments for various ones. ALL of them got shots.

In addition there is a VERY strong link between AIDS and polio vaccines given in Africa. There is a map on the net somewhere that shows it. Discovery just ran a show tying it all together. Start there.

It's of great concern .. that's for sure, especially those with cancer in our family history. And I'd never heard about the Africa/AIDS/polio vaccine connection, but my neighbor, who is black, told me that as well. I feel like I've missed quite a bit of news, being in the dark about both of these really important bits of news. I'm still stunned that there hasn't been a much louder and more public release of this information.

Speaking of lawsuits, if SV40 is responsible for the majority of asbestos cancer cases, does that mean the asbestos companies will get a refund from the lawyers for that portion of damages they have already paid?
