Bush press pal quits over gay prostitute link

WASHINGTON - A conservative ringer who was given a press pass to the White House and lobbed softball questions at President Bush quit yesterday after left-leaning Internet bloggers discovered possible ties to gay prostitution. "The voice goes silent," Jeff Gannon wrote on his Web site. "In consideration of the welfare of me and my family, I have decided to return to private life."

Gannon began covering the White House two years ago for an obscure Republican Web site (Talon-News.com). He was known for his friendly questions, including asking Bush at last month's news conference how he could work with Democrats "who seem to have divorced themselves from reality."

Gannon was also given a classified CIA memo that named agent Valerie Plame, leading to his grilling by the grand jury investigating her outing.

He came under lefty scrutiny after revelations that the administration was paying conservative pundits to talk up Bush's proposals. By examining Internet records, online sleuths at DailyKos.com figured out that his real name was Jim Guckert and he owned various Web sites, including HotMilitaryStud.com, MilitaryEscorts.com and MilitaryEscortsM4M.com.

A conservative ringer....

I just heard Chris Matthews use the same terminology. He was not challenged. You will hear it again, I am sure. I have seen no evidence that Gannon was a ringer, anymore than I would be if I was able to get into a Presidential press conference but they would think that I was.

Any particular reason why you are posting news that old? This isn't Main Stream Media, you know.

Chris Matthews is an idiot. A former Democratic politico who never seems to know what he is talking about.

The DU'ers are still foaming over Gannon. A quick perusal of their latest posts indicates they've just gotten started on Gannon. If Gannon is their prime ammo, they're in real trouble.

Lest anyone forget, we are currently engaged in a fight-to-the-death culture war with the Left. There are going to be casualties. Hopefully, the Right won't give the enemy too many vulnerable targets.

He's such small potatoes, though. Eason and Rather were the ones who were gone after, and they should have been.

Were people defending Gannon or Bush? I saw a lot of what appeared to be DU trolls making claims like Gannon was "given access to the highest levels of power" and other absurd things and trying to somehow tie Gannon to the White House. I also saw what appeared to be DU trolls posing as conservatives attempting to smear all Republicans/conservatives with Gannon's apparent lack of morals.

I didn't see anyone defending Gannon, though it's possible it happened.

Notwithstanding this is old news, the title "Bush Press Pal" is outrageous in it's implication. Nothing new here - Next.

Wonder what the proper terminology would be for Helen Thomas.

Aside from vicious meanspirited hatemonger.

Yup, this article is from the 10th and is a repost as I distinctly recall reading it here then.

Old news. No surprise, it's also wrong and flawed news.

I suggest our "no comment" poster make one along the lines of "I feel like a fool".

Chrissy was still talking about this dead story today?

I am pleased to see my boycott is for good reason.

I'm sure there was some sort of protest in support of Gannon by some freepers but that seemed to die off pretty quick.
