it's pretty hard to know you aren't drunk

BS....the first thing alcohol attacks is judgement.

Take it from an ex-drunk who quit after his 3rd DUI.

alcohol attacks is judgement.

After one's 2nd dui, it is imperative to use your judgment before starting to drink. For a person, who knows they have that problem, to even start drinking is the problem.

I am glad you realized your issue.

How many homosexuals are convicted of intentionally infecting someone with AIDS? At least a drunk has the defense of he was too drunk to know how drunk he was. However, both have endangered others' lives.

Did you serve any time for the 3rd?

I don't think that he killed anybody but if he continued to drive drunk chances are he would have.I don't agree with a life sentence for a third DWI but he should have gotten a few years of prison and a lifetime loss of driving privilege. We don't even give killers or serial child molesters this much time in prison and they really deserve it.

Did this guy kill someone while driving drunk or did he just get 3 DUIs?

No deaths—yet:

One of Debrow's prior convictions was in the 1990s, when he was convicted of aggravated assault after hitting someone while driving drunk, records show.

I bet this sentence sobered him up real quick.

If you can't do the time, don't do the crime. No since whining about the punishment.

Nope...$2000 fine and 250 hours community restitution.

Eddie said he quit drinking after his third. Was inquiring whether he got any jail time for 3 DUI's.
In today's justice system, 3 DUI's does NOT constitute a life sentence. Mass murderes get less time.

It's almost like people don't have faith
in the justice system.
I wonder why that is.

Perhaps because of a life sentence for three DUIs? What do they give a serial rapist?

"Durn I wasted FR space then."

You never waste FR space. ;o)

I don't know nuthin' 'bout MS drunk driving laws.
It would be nice if they kept him for a number of years.
But, I don't think he will be doing a life sentence.

It sure shouldn't matter. I'm very surprised at the other posters here who seem to think this sentence is too harsh. We've all been so critical of judges going easy on habitual drunks; it seems drunks don't get tough sentences even if a death is involved.

It sounds like this loser had at least three opportunities, that we know of, in which he could have caused fatalities. So this judge is taking this potential killer off the road before he actually does kill someone. Good for him.

I wish I could say that was true, but I kept drinking for another 10 years.

I just finally got sick and tired of being sick and tired.

I quit for good (after many false starts...including 6 months being sober after that 3rd DUI) one week before I started posting on FR.

It became my neighborhood bar.

I can proudly state that all stupid posts I have made have been with a clear mind. :o)

If you have to ask, there is probably no point in answering, BUT OF COURSE IT MATTERS!!!!
