Breakfast pizza test underway (Testing The Peter Principle)

LOUISVILLE, KY Pizza for breakfast is nothing new. But Papa John's is testing something more than cold leftovers.
A Papa John's in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, is offering pizza omelettes and pizza pastries to the breakfast crowd. It's the only outlet in the country that's test-marketing the AM pizzas.
The pizzeria uses the same six-inch crust used at stadium concession stands. Customers can get a variety of ingredients in their pizza omelettes, including cheese, sausage, ham and green pepper.
Officials of Papa John's say if the marketing test works out well, the breakfast offerings could be expanded to other outlets.

Instead of coming out with new products, they should improve the quality of their current products. Five years ago their pizzas were great, now they flat out suck.

three times a day!
Now, if Coke would only make Breakfast Coke, I wouldn't feel weird about drinking it before noon.

They could easily use existing equipment to make handheld breakfast quiches like I had in Normandy. Very tasty and handy too.

I had this idea almost 15 years ago, when I was delivering pizzas at college. Use a cream-based instead of tomato-based sauce, and have toppings include cheese, scrambled eggs, ham, mushroom, bacon, peppers, onions, etc. As a college kid, I would have loved a breakfast pizza, especially on "big game" football Saturdays.

Which is a shame, because the company is good. My wife just took our girl scout troop to a local Papa John's this week for a tour, and PJ's was great...let the kids all make their own pizza, toss pies, and gave them coupons for free pizza.

A half glass of diet Pepsi w/breakfast or a swig out of the bottle before leaving the house in the morning truly does a body good.

They shouldn't make them breakfasty pizzas, they should just cook a bunch the night before, stick them in the fridge, and then sell them cold, that's a proper breakfast pizza.

Haven't had a Papa John's since 2001, they were excellent then... none in my current area now though.
To: ContemptofCourt
Papa John's service SUCKS. Two weeks ago I made the mistake of ordering a pizza from them. (I actually called one store first, who said they weren't my delivery area, so they referred me to store number 2.) Anyway, after asking my address, they took my order and said my pizza would be here in 45 minutes. An hour and 15 minutes later I called them back, and the manager told me I was
out of the delivery area, so he had sent my order to another store. (The one I called first!) I then called that store and they say "sorry, you're out of our delivery area." Did anyone make a phone call to ME to say I wouldn't be getting a pizza? Nope. Did they try to make it right with me at all? Nope. Just a "we're sorry."
So there I sat, my son had friends over, which made seven hungry mouths in my house. It was now 7pm, and nobody had eaten. No food in the house...which was why I ordered out to begin with...and I had to wait 45 more minutes for Pizza Hut to bring me a pizza.
I send my complaint to Papa John's headquarters, who told me two weeks ago (via e-mail)they were "reviewing my comments." They were my family's favorite, but they've lost me.

Actually, in my bachelor and pre-Atkins days, I loved the little frozen "breakfast pizzas" that Red Baron puts out. They're just their standard mini-sized deep-dish crust with cheese and scrambled egg on top, and you can get them with bacon, ham, sausage, all three, or all three with peppers and shrooms. Really, really good, and quick too.
And as for Coke in the mornings, some of us don't drink coffee and have to get our caffeine via a morning Diet Coke fix. :)

First of all, there used to be a thing called Pepsi A.M. It was regular Pepsi but with a bit less carbonation and test marketed for breakfast. To me that's all sissy stuff for all those pansies that also drink lattes!

I have never liked Papa Johns. They skimp on toppings, including the cheese. Also, Pizza Hut has online ordering. Pizza hut has been my #1 choice ever since, during a particularly unpleasant road trip, DW and I stopped in at a Pizza Hut for lunch. This was shortly after they had stopped marketing the "Edge Pizza". I asked if we could get one anyway, and they made us one, loaded to the gills with toppings. It was perfectly cooked, and ranks in my top 5 best pizza experiences ever. Best overall though is Pastazio's, which sells NY style (large crust rim, very thin bottom crust, and an 18" pie cut into 6 slices).

Yeah, got a Pizza Hut story myself. Ordered a large pizza for carry out on my way home from work. I got into the store and went to pull out my wallet only to discover that I unknowingly had left my wallet at home that day. I bit embarrassed I said I was sorry and was about to walk out. It was too far from my home on a snowy night to think about going home and coming back. Then the guy, the manager perhaps, said, "Here, just take it." I was blown away! Now admittedly it was in the vicinity of Christmas, but basically the guy from Pizza Hut gave me a $13 pizza. Needless to say, I never forgot that.

Hmmm. I've always been out of the delivery area for every pizza place in town---so if I ever want pizza I've always had to pick it up. I think it has it's advantages though---I've never had to wait 45 minutes for a pizza. Plus-you don't have to worry about a tip.
