Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice arrived at the Wiesbaden Army Airfield on Wednesday dressed all in black. She was wearing a black skirt that hit just above the knee, and it was topped with a black coat that fell to mid-calf. The coat, with its seven gold buttons running down the front and its band collar, called to mind a Marine's dress uniform or the "save humanity" ensemble worn by Keanu Reeves in "The Matrix."
... The boots had a high, slender heel that is not particularly practical. But it is a popular silhouette because it tends to elongate and flatter the leg. In short, the boots are sexy.
... Rice looked as though she was prepared to talk tough, knock heads and do a freeze-frame "Matrix" jump kick if necessary...
Rice's coat and boots speak of sex and power -- such a volatile combination, and one that in political circles rarely leads to anything but scandal. ... the mind searches for ways to put it all into context. It turns to fiction, to caricature. To shadowy daydreams. Dominatrix! It is as though sex and power can only co-exist in a fantasy. ...in the real world, stubborn stereotypes have her power devolving into a form that is purely sexual.
Rice challenges expectations and assumptions. ... menacing silhouette. ... Countless essays and books have been written about the erotic nature of high heels...

I think the reporter's in love.
Kewl! Is Condi "The One"?
How did you know I wrote that????
Oh, uh, I mean...heh...
Hey, the middle aged women had Rummy, us almost-40 guys need a hearthrob in this administration, leave us alone! ;)
Boots with attitude to kick EUroweenies, evildoers and assorted miscreants.
Now that's a phrase.
If things don't work out in 2008, Condi could have a weekly series. "Condi the EUroweenie Slayer" or something.
No matter what she wears I will be proud of her compared to the last 'female' secretary of state. Every time the ugly toad went some where on a 'diplomatic' I cringed and shuddered at her mini skirts and and what may pop out from her ugly mouth.
.......as Hillary! cowers in fear, wondering HOW IN THE HECK to upgrade her ever declining looks!
Meow

OK, Condi! You rule.
No matter what she wears I will be proud of her compared to the last 'female' secretary of state. Every time the ugly toad went some where on a 'diplomatic' I cringed and shuddered at her mini skirts and and what may pop out from her ugly mouth.
It's just a matter of preference!
Her legs and Hillery's lovely legs are "very, very" sexy for a Democrat!!!
LOL!
Condi and Chaney swap jobs in '06.
Then add Senatecritters to EUroweenies and Evildoers after '08.
<sigh> I did a by-posting-time search for "Condoleeza Rice", really I did!
Imagine that...
a sexy outfit with no belly button or thong
underwear poking out from the backside.
Just a bit of "knee" and a slinky silhouette =^)
Can you imagine if a conservatives reporter would write something like this about a liberal female politician?!
They would be drummed out of the business for being so overtly sexist and offensive, since they comment ad nausaum on the clothes, instead of the ability and competence of a female secretary of state.
"Rice's coat and boots speak of sex and power -- such a volatile combination, and one that in political circles rarely leads to anything but scandal. When looking at the image of Rice in Wiesbaden, the mind searches for ways to put it all into context. It turns to fiction, to caricature. To shadowy daydreams. Dominatrix! It is as though sex and power can only co-exist in a fantasy. When a woman combines them in the real world, stubborn stereotypes have her power devolving into a form that is purely sexual."
I find this piece offensive and demeaning to all women. another example of liberaly hypocrysy: while they claim they want equality for women, when a CONSERVATIVE woman gets a position of power they call her a "dominatrix". Disgusting!
I think a generous FReeping of the Washingto Post is in order -- and it should be brought to the attention of Hannity and Rush, in case they missed it.
She is single you know. Does this make her Washington's most eligible?
It's funny that the reporter chose that particular outfit to write about. I don't think a great deal about Dr. Rice's clothes (if at all) but I happened to see a photo of the president with Dr. Rice in the background, in that particular outfit, and it really, really made me notice her! I also thought the jacket had a very military look to it, and yet was very fashion-forward. Heretofore, I have been dismissing the posts I have read about her possible run for the presidency next time, but that outfit made me rethink that. It had the look of a woman who was ready to kick butt and take names -- and be president.
Lovely? YES
Dominatrix? Hardly!
"I think the reporter's in love."
Possibly -- the reporter is female, and is referring to Condi as a "dominatrix".
You can put two and two together.
close=clown
Way past my bed time!
First off, let me say I dig Condi. She's a cool lady. But I have to ask one question. Why o Why can't she just get a little dental work done? Braces may be outta the question because it is a little juvenille, but come on, they can do anything these days--Extreme Makeover???? Maybe I'm just superficial, but if she has higher political aspirations--then she really outta close that gap and thus silence all the cruel comedians that are bound to crucify her for it (which they have already begun). I dunno I'm just thinking long term here.
"She lives in New York and has a dog." I find that humorous for some reason.Robin Givhan is originally from Michigan. She majored in English at Princeton University and has a masters degree in journalism from the University of Michigan. Robin has been on the staff of the Detroit Free Press, San Francisco Chronicle and Vogue magazine. She's been at The Washington Post since 1995 and in addition to covering the fashion industry, also helped to cover the 2000 presidential election, the Atlanta Olympic Games and, of course, the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Robin contributed to a couple of books and freelanced for Essence, The International Herald Tribune and Town and Country, among others. She lives in New York and has a dog.
It is funny that the only living being that can be associated with her is a dog. Poor dog.
I've heard that a gap between the front teeth means that you are aggressive. I think her gap is just fine. Same with Lauren Hutton's, and she was a model. I think Madonna has one too.
Condi looks hot, hot, hot!
I think it is "code" if you know what I mean. LOL
I shouldn't stereotype. Sorry if I offend anyone.
I said the exact same thing (almost) on the other thread.

Condi is not going to get confused for the cleaning lady
I was wondering, am I the only one, who noticed how demeaning and disgusting this was -- deliberately so.
I think you should tell the WP what you think -- I did.
If you aren't signed up, it's worth registering, just to tell them that.
This is an insult not just to Condi, but to ALL women.
Can you imagine, what would happend, if a conservatve fashion editor had called Hillary a "dominatrix"?!
Conservative columnist should pick this up and point out what disgusting hypocrites liberals are.
No, you're not alone; I loved the pictures today, but I was, quite frankly, stunned at the tone and verbage in that article.
It's almost like it's okay to say it because she's black.
I'm waiting to see how this is reported on the cables.
Just amazing.
Consider the source.
Robin Givhan thinks SHE is powerful and influential.
Condi is the most powerful woman in the world
because of who she is and what she stands for.
I think she would only laugh at this piece of trash,
just as W does.
IMO, it's disrespectful.
They could have commented on her clothes in terms of how stylish she is, and how effective her taste is in clothes, in terms of sending a message of style and power.
But no, they had to try to portray her not just as a sex object, but as someone with a perverted sense of sexuality.
Only in the filthy liberal mind...
But we can't give the liberal media a pass, when they make a big thing, when someone, such as the President of Harvard makes a comment, that women may be less suited for science study, or something to that effect, and at the same time they are calling a brilliant, competent, stylish, female secretary of state a "dominatrix".
That's because you're decent.
Givhans is like a tiger who can only see someone as "lunch."
She can only see a fellow back woman as a sex object.
Thank you WP for bringing down the images a few notches for everyone.
Comments such as these could possibly put Condoleeza in some jeopardy; as they inflame less tame minds for a woman who spends a great deal of time working; negotiating in a man's world and with the most powerful of people. She represents the United States; and she needs to be respected at all levels; and across all cultural boundaries.
One could define the sexual commentary and it's undertones - of Ms. Rice; as not only anti-woman; but racist as well.
Can not the Washington Post/Lib establishment et al, get this?
OR does 'respect' for an accomplished woman, holding high office and political power mean nothing; when that person is an appointment of President Bush. . .a woman and Black. Apparently seen as a triple 'whammy' by our Liberal Left.
In short. . .this is totally demeaning to Condoleeza. . .
. . .bad enough for any professional woman but as the 'Secretary of State; editorializing with sexual adjectives; 'fantasy like'. . .this becomes almost a 'hit piece''; couched in an extreme 'feminine' and what Liberals will excuse and deny as no more than a compliment.
Excellent point on the hypocrisy of the Left.
They are rooted first, in the 'lie' and they cannot help but betray themselves. . .
I understand your disgust, but Givhan's seething hatred
is so obvious and unwarranted as to expose her for
the skank SHE is.
I mean, just look at the photos.
Anyone into dominatrix types would laugh silly to think
of Condi that way.
This hit piece is not worthy of the attention to Givhan.
I really do wonder what Condi would say about this.
I was going to say this thread is useless without pics.
She may not be a dominatrix, but she definitely looks like she's ready to kick ass and take names.
If the WP had any sense; it would have pulled this story. . .
. . .and just let this person do porn movie reviews where she/he can really vent on the nature of the erotic.
Incredible; for what should have been, a story on America's Secretary of State; meeting with our troops.
They would be drummed out of the business for being so overtly sexist and offensive, since they comment ad nausaum on the clothes, instead of the ability and competence of a female secretary of state.
Yeah, how come we never heard this kind of talk over "sex and power" about Madeleine Albright? Oh--wait, thank goodness we didn't.
No, braces aren't juvenile--if you get the clear ones, that is. There are even those that go behind the teeth instead of on the front--wish those were around in my day!
In short. . .this is totally demeaning to Condoleeza. . .
. . .bad enough for any professional woman but as the 'Secretary of State; editorializing with sexual adjectives; 'fantasy like'. . .this becomes almost a 'hit piece'';

I agree. It IS a hit piece. It's hardly fit for an underground sex tabloid -- yet it appeared in the WP. So what does this say about the WP.
I encourage everyone to write to WP and tell them what you think.
How can liberals claim to be for equality for women and blacks, when they write about professionals in such pornographic terms, calling Condi a "dominatrix", for being a stylish, competent, powerful woman.
""Rice's coat and boots speak of sex and power -- such a volatile combination, and one that in political circles rarely leads to anything but scandal.
If you don't find this offensive, YOU have a problem.
People can't crack a joke or compliment a woman at a work place and look at the trouble the President of Harvard was in for making a fairly innocous comment, and then here is the same liberal establishment treating Condi as worse than a sex object.
I don't think you have to be a prude to
realize this is a hit piece. Someone on another thread
described it as "damning her with faint praise."
It's like the WP thought "Oh goody...we'll get a fellow
black woman to put her in her place."
