Milk can cause acne, says new research

(Filed: 25/02/2005)

Drinking milk could be one of the causes of acne, new research in America has claimed.

Women who drink two or more servings of skimmed milk every day are 44 per cent more likely to have developed severe acne, the study, reported in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, said.

Women who drink more than three daily servings of any type of milk are 22 per cent more likely to have suffered from acne.

The study was based on responses to a survey from 47,335 women involved in an ongoing health study.

"We found a positive association with acne for intake of total milk and skimmed milk," researchers concluded.

"We hypothesise that the association with milk may be because of the presence of hormones and bioactive molecules in milk.''

PETA came out with similarly disgusting propaganda when trying to discourage children from drinking milk raped out of poor, abused cows.

Milk added to some scrabbled chicken abortions with a side order of fried smoked pork belly makes a good breakfast.

Am I missing something or should those percentages be reversed? I would think more people would develop acne from drinking "any kind of milk", due to the extra fat content. No testing of "organic" dairies skim milk? Hmmmmm....

Milk can make strong teeth and bones as well. As for the Acne. . .maybe/maybe not; like everything else; depends on one's one body chemistry.

More to the truth here; are the 'dairy nazis' IMHO; who are trying to kill - not the cow - but all the reasons for needing them.

I think there is a connection between milk and acne though. Had a friend in high school with bad acne. Doc asked him if he drank milk. He said yes. Doc said, "Why, you're not a cow are you?"

He was highly offended. But his acne cleared up.

Hogwash.

Lots of people drink milk and don't have acne.

Not to mention, hormones are raging during high school.

I break out when I drink milk or eat too much ice cream. It's not standard acne, but it's still enough to keep me away.

From what is written here one could as easily infer that an increase in total fat content would decrease acne.

We ARE the only animal that continues to drink milk (nevermind that it's from a different species) after we're weaned from our mothers.

This was not true until they started shooting up the cows with hormones and anti-biotics.

There is likely not as much of that non-food medication in cow's milk as there is in chickens, however.

It's possible. I'd guess that some people are allergic to something in milk, and some are not.

When I was growing up, most teenagers were given large quantities of milk to drink, and I had only a few token pimples.

So it's luck of the draw. If you have acne, no harm in giving up milk for a while to see if it cures the problem.

The daily scare alert of what we cannot eat anymore!
No milk -- causes acne
No salt -- causes high blood pressure
No butter -- causes high cholesterol
No eggs -- ditto above
No red meat -- ditto above
No sugar -- makes you fat
No artificial sweetner either -- causes cancer
No fast/junk food -- makes you fat
Guess that just leaves dirt (whoops, not that, might have some "bad" minerals in it; air (whoops, not that, might have pollutants in it); or water (whoops, can't have that either -- too much flouride)
Well, there you have it -- either don't eat or just take a chance, folks -- it's all gonna kill ya -- one way or the other!

That is only because we can take milk from any source we desire. A weaned animal trying to get milk the old fashioned way will git it's #$$ kicked.

Of course if you think I'm wrong you should try obtaining milk from a non domesticated animal, might I suggest MS Grizzly Bear?

We ARE NOT like every other animal.

I never said we were. I was simply pointing out one thing we do differently, namely drink milk beyond our babyhood. If there are problems that afflict us but afflict no other animal, there may - MAY - be some connection between them.

Well, almost any source. That weaned animal you wrote of getting milk the old fashioned way and getting it's @$$ kicked would experience a walk in the park compared to you or I interrupting a nursing mother: "Pardon me, but would you have any...POW!"

Yeah. Other animals have the sense to get their milk from their own species.

I go on a few natural e-lists. I get so annoyed when I keep reading some people talking about how dairy is bad for you. Some people have even linked milk drinking to ADD and autism. Sfter reading vegan posts, I always feel like I should go outside and mow the lawn with my teeth, while occasionally swigging some soy milk.

I'm drawing a blank, so if it was from a Jim Carey movie, it was completely subconscious (I have seen a few of his movies).

Milk Can Cause Acne, Says New Research

Could this be a new source of a law suit against dairy farmers.

The sky is falling, the sky is falling.

Milk baths are supposed to be good for the skin so maybe women will have to start bathing in it instead of drinking it.

Then there is the calcium problem for growing children and nursing mother's but I am sure that they can come up with a substitute. Then of course the substitute will cause some sort of side affect and we can then all sue the companies and put them out of business but the lawyers will thrive.
