(FreeMuslims.org) Muslim-bashing. That's the accusation many of my fellow Muslims now hurl at the various news outlets for their news stories about a Freedom House investigation that found extremist Islamic literature in some leading American mosques. This name-calling is unfortunate.
Since 1980, the Muslim world has experienced an enormous growth of religious fanaticism and extremism the likes of which Islam has not experienced in its 1,400 years. This movement continues to grow because of the spread of Wahhabi Islam, a sect that used to number no more than one percent of all Muslims, but because of money and technology, has spread to more areas around the world.
Extremism is also growing because of an ideology called political Islam. The basis of political Islam is the rejection of secularism and the belief that the mosque and the state should be completely intertwined. Unfortunately, history has shown that when politics and religion are completely intertwined, disaster results.
Most importantly, extremism in the Muslim world continues to grow because most Muslims are unwilling to admit that we have a problem with extremism and support for terrorism. The response by Muslims to the Freedom House report is not the first time that the Muslim community resorted to denial and accusations of Muslim-bashing when presented with evidence of Muslim culpability.
After September 11, many in the Muslim world chose denial and hallucination rather than face up to the sad fact that Muslims perpetrated the 9/11 terrorist acts. After 9/11, many Muslims, including religious leaders and "intellectuals," blamed 9/11 on a Jewish conspiracy, and went as far as fabricating a tale that 4,000 Jews did not show up for work in the World Trade Center on that day.

My "Islam for Dummies" home teaching course tells me that fanaticism and extremism were the original design factors of Islam - plastered around a pastiche taken from other's doctrine and arab expansionism.
As far as I know the only lapse in that description was due to their utter inability to reach beyond the next sand dune in order to enforce it....today even the barbarians can drive a taxi or disarm a stewardess.

There is no other way around it, we will have to stop it; because the so-called moderate muslims have no intention of speaking out. They think their only hope of surviving this war is by blending in.
When we win...and we WILL win...they will profess that their loyalty has always been with us; but they were quiet for fear of the hardliners coming after them.
They think they will be OK as long as they are quiet.
They don't know who is going to win.
Their 'religion' teaches them to be weak; so they try to blend on the surface.
But ultimately, they will go with whoever wins.
These people are not an asset to our society; but being cowards, they will conform to the prevailing side.
and the Chinese are using the Muslims as proxy fighters while all the while quietly invading the energy producing continents....the Red Chi Coms own Sudan, Ethiopia and Mugabe in South Africa and now the Panama Canal ( gift from Carter) and Venezuela too....and are being caught being smuggled across Bush and Vincente's beloved open Mexico border...when will we ever learn?.....stop the Chi Coms and you stop the Islamic radicals...ignore the Chi Coms at your peril they are the root

I agree that the teachings of the religion are always going to cause conflict if the followers are true to its teachings.It's more like a call to arms that uses the threat of death for disobeying and gives the reward of an endless supply of virgins for those who die while killing for the cause.There will always be a conflict as long as there are people who disagree with the religion.

If I'm challenged on the authenticity of the events, I know how to verify each episode one at a time but do you have a source for the collective list?

All sarcasm aside, you've gotta admire this guy's guts. As some others have said, I wish he'd spoken out sooner, but better late than never. I also hope he's well-armed.
