Bill would ban abortions of 'gay' fetuses (Maine legislator got idea listening to Rush Limbaugh)
World Net Daily ^ | February 25, 2005

Posted on 02/26/2005 2:38:04 PM PST by NYer

A Republican lawmaker in Maine has introduced a bill to prohibit abortions based on the sexual orientation of the unborn baby.

State Rep. Brian Duprey wants the Legislature to forbid a woman from ending a pregnancy because the fetus is homosexual.

He said the bill looks into the future in case scientists find what he described as a "homosexual gene."

"I have heard from women who told me that if they found out that they were carrying a child with the gay gene, then they would abort. I think this is wrong," said Duprey, who got the idea while listening to the Rush Limbaugh Show.

But some lawmakers say Duprey is neither interested in creating new policy to protect gays and lesbians nor seriously discussing the issue of abortion. The bill, they say, is a way of forcing some lawmakers to choose between abortion rights and gay rights.

"It will be seen as some kind of political gamesmanship," said House Majority Leader Glenn Cummings, D-Portland.

Last month, Duprey drew attention to the issue of gay rights when he proposed a bill to legalize same-sex marriages even though opposing it himself.

The Baldacci administration and homosexual activists questioned Duprey's motivation. They said the bill disrespected the legislative process and prevented them from having time to build support for the issue.

Senate Minority Leader Paul Davis, R-Sangerville, questioned the bill's premise. "You cannot test for it," he said.

After seeing the proposed legislation, Senate President Beth Edmonds, D-Freeport, and Cummings called Duprey's efforts disingenuous. They questioned why he has opposed gay rights legislation protecting adults while pushing for legislation protecting those not yet born.

"It is just something to get him press time. It is not a realistic proposal," Edmonds said.

Duprey said: "Technology is changing every day. They could map the homosexual gene tomorrow."

A spokesman for the governor's office told the Portland Press Herald the administration will review Duprey's bill but declined to comment on it.

Duprey, an opponent of abortion, said he believes support will grow for the measure, though he has no co-sponsors.

But... but... but no abortion can be made illegal - that would infringe on the mother's rights... and what about the proverbial clause about when the mother's life is in danger?

This whole thing cracks me up...

He introduced the bill, but it's going to be completely ignored by the 'RATs who own the Maine legislature. Last month he introduced a bill legalizing same-sex marriage that has yet to be acted upon either.

I don't think some people here are getting the point. Note that he brought up a bill to make gay marriage legal while he himself opposes it. (Think about it.)

What he's doing is stirring up the debate so that people will be forced to THINK about the implications--i.e. gays who have been bemoaning the failure of gay marriage amendments will see this as a way for gays to be eliminated in the future, so of course they would start to think about being anti-abortion; the prochoicers would have to come out and blatantly defend the abortion of children because they're gay.

It's a brilliant move even if it goes nowhere.

I am pro-gay rights (marriage, if they want), but also pro-choice (abortion choice) so - it's a tough call.

(I think I'd vote No on this bill, since pro-choice should trump the reason for choosing abortion. If people want to "design" their babies with blue eyes, without Down's syndrome, etc. it's their choice, since -- they'll be spending 10's of thousands of dollars to raise the child to productive citizen)

This idea is brilliant though -- since it does 'check mate' Gay-rights activitists who still ally themselves with the democrat party.
Very clever

Two queer men decide to have a baby. They mix their sperm,
then had a surrogate mother artificially inseminated. When
the baby is born, they rush to the hospital. Two dozen babies
are in the ward and 23 of them are crying and screaming. But
one, over in the corner, is smiling serenely !!!

A nurse comes by, and much to the queer guys' delight, she
points out that the one and only happy child as theirs.

"Isn't this just absolutely wonderful?" Dennis says to Bobby.
"All these unhappy children... but ours is soooooo happy."

The nurse says, "Oh, sure he's happy now, but just watch
what happens when we take the pacifier out of his arse." !!!

"There is no test to determine if a baby will be gay"

"I don't think there ever will be either........."

Then why the opposition? A lot of us on the right think that the the gay rights movement in this country is more interested in recruiting and increasing their numbers, than in protecting the rights of gays. This bill gives us a chance to see just where the gay rights supporters stand. If they are truly interested only in protecting gays and don't care about increasing their numbers, then they should oppose this bill - and protect the 'right' to have abortion on demand, for any reason (since they tend to be liberal on most other issues).

But if their real aim is building up their numbers, then things get more interesting...

The strategy extends well beyond abortion and gay rights. In fact, the remaining major fabric of the Leftist coalition - environmentalism, feminism and race baiting - is in danger here as well.

1. The environmentalists will be in conflict because protecting the 'gay' gene carriers is anti-nature and prolonging a defective line. In effect, it is imposing genetic modification on natural selection. The separate issues of GMO's and evolutionary meaning can be challenged. If the block acts against this 'right' further stresses can be introduced against the Leftist coalition by pitting the greenies against the rest of the rabble through re-framed legislation with the same ideas.

2. The feminists already are in conflict because the currently acceptable genetic disease basis for abortion will be expanded to purely preferential choices if abortion is openly and clearly sanctioned for reasons other than disease. The specters of 'Eugenics' will be able to make a solid hit on abortion rights and the gay lobby will be at loggerheads with feminist goals. A wedge between pro-abortion lesbians and frightened gays can be developed. Finally, the notion of killing children for the sake of characteristics will seriously harm their sale prospects to uncertain and ill-informed women about the glorious 'right' to murder brown eyed girls in preference to blue eyed boys.

3. Lastly, the race lobby won't dig this either. Since gays are already chewing into their turf with a jinn-ed up claims to minority status and being legitimate heirs to the 1965 CRA, the emergence of open, unfettered and selective killing of children for the sake of desirable traits or eliminating behaviors will re-open Margaret Sanger's eugenic pogroms against black America. The RAT Party and the KKK would certainly find themselves in agreement support the legality of federally funded selective killing to eliminate undesirable minorities. Preferential killing of babies based on superficial characteristics in order to develop a superior end product is the next step in reviving the ultimate tyrannical idea of eugenics.

Introducing this bill is great politics. This has opened a lot of ground that has heretofore been speculative. This Legislator deserves a big thanks for carrying the ball forward deep into RAT territory.

It's all about language. The left manipulated the terms around until the word "right" could apply to any personal wish. Why would anyone describe marriage as a human right? From the traditional request for permission to have his daughter's hand in marriage the fiancé makes of the fiancée's father, to the blood test the county requires of the couple, to the traditional call for objections during the service, marriage is a privilege bestowed on a couple by its community based on very narrow requirements.

Dividing permissible behavior into rights and privileges annoys people, however. It's so much more convenient to assert that everything we want is a "right." But when every desire and wish becomes a right, then the few which are critical to the maintenance of freedom are quickly lost in the fog of confusion.

Pretty sure that he knows this, but is attempting to turn abortion issue around on them by asking them if they would still be abortion if the nature of a child was known in advance - probably giving him to much credit though.

Margaret Sanger quotes
Founder of Planned Parenthood
courtesy of life dynamics

Margaret Sanger founder of the International Planned Parenthood Federation, was a proponent of forced eugenics, segregation, abortion, birth control and sexual immorality. Here are some of her quotes.

"The most merciful thing that a family does to one of its infant members is to kill it."

"Birth control must lead ultimately to a cleaner race."

"We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don't want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population…"

"Eugenic sterilization is an urgent need ... We must prevent multiplication of this bad stock."

"Eugenics is … the most adequate and thorough avenue to the solution of racial, political and social problems.

"Birth control itself, often denounced as a violation of natural law, is nothing more or less than the facilitation of the process of weeding out the unfit, of preventing the birth of defectives or of those who will become defectives."

"The unbalance between the birth rate of the 'unfit' and the 'fit,' [is] the greatest present menace to civilization… the most urgent problem today is how to limit and discourage the over-fertility of the mentally and physically defective."

"The campaign for birth control is not merely of eugenic value, but is practically identical with the final aims of eugenics."

"Our failure to segregate morons who are increasing and multiplying… a dead weight of human waste… an ever-increasing, unceasingly spawning class of human beings who never should have been born at all."

"The undeniably feeble-minded should, indeed, not only be discouraged but prevented from propagating their kind."

"The procreation of [the diseased, the feeble-minded and paupers] should be stopped."

"The marriage bed is the most degenerative influence in the social order..."

"[Our objective is] unlimited sexual gratification without the burden of unwanted children..."

"[Mandatory] sterilization for [the insane and feeble-minded] is the answer."

"Give dysgenic groups [people with 'bad genes'] in our population their choice of segregation or [compulsory] sterilization."

Margaret Sanger, Founder of Planned Parenthood, proposed the American Baby Code that states, "No woman shall have the legal right to bear a child… without a permit for parenthood".

Margaret Sanger, Founder of Planned Parenthood, proposed the Population Congress with the aim, "...to give certain dysgenic groups in our population their choice of segregation or sterilization."

"As we celebrate the 100th birthday of Margaret Sanger, our outrageous and our courageous leader, we will probably find a number of areas in which we may find more about Margaret Sanger than we thought we wanted to know..."
Faye Wattleton, Past-president of Planned Parenthood

The left can't sustain both positions.

If there is a homosexual gene (there is not is a political propaganda tool) an abortion of a homosexual fetus would be on par with an abortion for any other birth defect.

There is no such thing as a homosexuality gene, and he knows this, but it forces them to address the moral issue of abortion through the argument - would abortion be acceptable to you if gay gene identified (again no such thing)and conservatives began aborting only gay babies? Same argument for liberal gene.
