Saddam Hussein's half-brother captured in Iraq
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A half-brother and former adviser to Saddam Hussein has been captured in Iraq, according to sources in the interim government.
Sabawi Ibrahim al-Hasan al-Tikriti was number 36 on the U.S. military's list of the 55 most wanted people in Iraq. No other details were provided. An official announcement would be made soon, the sources said on Saturday.
"Sabawi is captured, he's a big catch," one official in the government said.

Are you two staying up past "lights out" again? ;-)
Good morning Allegra!!!!
I was just about to go to bed when Fox announced this capture on breaking news.
Right back at ya! It's lunchtime here.
Sometimes I find out about things like this from FR before any other sources. This news is one of those times.
I've even found out the cause behind explosions I've heard out there on FR before I hear it from our people here.
See? You all rock. ;-)
Did you get DSL?
Well thank you!! We are happy to keep you abreast from across the waters over here to whats going on across the waters where you are. :o)
Texkat...
You are up really late or early....time for me to get to bed
I thought we had captured some high level guys the other day, is this a new and additional one?
If so that is gangbusters.....Wohoooo!
Y'all get some sleep! |-)
BAGHDAD (AFP) - A half-brother of ousted Iraqi president Saddam Hussein, who figures on the US list of Iraq's most wanted, has been arrested, the interior ministry's intelligence chief said.
"Sabawi Ibrahim al-Hassan has been arrested in Iraq," Hussein Ali Kamel told AFP, but declined to provide any further details.
The half-brother is number 36 on the US list of 55 most wanted former regime officials in Iraq.
Two other half-brothers of Saddam are in custody at a US army-run jail near Baghdad and are set to be tried in the coming months
Sabawi Ibrahim al-Hassan was one of about a dozen of the most wanted oficials who have so far escaped arrest or death at the hands of American-led security forces.
Kamel said an officials statement on the arrest would be made later Sunday.
Among those still at large is Ezzat Ibrahim al-Duri, Saddam's former deputy and vice president of the former ruling Revolution Command Council.
New, but they have not said when they captured him. See my post before this one. I guess it will be announced officially later today.
Looks like intel on the bad guys is coming in left and right.
Whatever happened to "Bagdad Bob"? He probably wasn't worth capturing or killing.
Actually, he turned himself in not too long after Baghdad fell and the U.S. forces said something like "Ummmm, thanks. But you're not on our list. You're free to go."
What an ego blow, huh?
OK, now I'm really off to lunch.
I can hear the pig squeeling all the way over here in Orygun!!
Woo Hoo! Great get!
Hi Allegra! Hope all is well in your neck of the woods!
Both the AQ and the Baathists are getting rolled up like free Zig Zags at a rock concert.
Yeah. But when are they going to capture the OTHER HALF?! |
