Good job. I appreciate it that someone was there to remind these screwballs that they only act, and President Bush makes far reaching real life decisions.

Had a young woman get her knickers in a knot, telling me that we must be confused. The Oscars were about actors, not politics.
I told her we couldn't agree more, and to tell the actors.
She responded "We like THEM."
It was also amazing how many people thought so poorly of Iraqis having the freedom to vote.

Matt Drudge played some of the comments directed at President Bush by Chris Rock. There's just no way a room full of Hollywood elites is going to gather without some gratuitous President Bush jokes.

Hi all--just got home from this FReep. I'm about to post a longer Post Action detail report here, and sending RonDog some photos soon to post here.....but this comment struck home. I walked back and forth to my car a couple of times....along the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I was noticing the many names, some of old, some more recent, and was thinking to myself about how little a contribution most of those "Stars" actually made. Sure, they might make us laugh or cry or think--using somebody else's words and thoughts. Yet is that reason for the level of worship these narcissists among us warrant? We have statues, monuments etc. to commemorate such as General Grant, George Washington, Lincoln yet how about the lesser giants among us, those who in less-famous ways show backbone, courage, leadership, integrity, patriotism, CHARACTER. Just needed to "journal" this thought, might as well put it here for all to consider.

Great work!!
The Oscars/Freep was crowds and more crowds, lots of people trying to see the Rich and Famous, as they dodged Members of the PURPLE REVOLUTION!!!
It's so great to have "fellowship" afterward and meet everyone. We weren't all in the same place, while freeping, so it was a treat to talk, learn about each other and smile about the event!
What a blessing to have this outlet for our energies,
and our passion so we can encourage each other and be strengthened in the grand purpose!!
Ted Hayes was the radiant Uncle Sam and inspirational everytime he chanted or gave a cheer.
And RonDog in the Moore suit... what was it, "butt" backwards.
People who post on FR were there, plus many others who love America, served in the military and one young man just from Iraq on a 30 day leave!
Can you imagine the dedication, for this soldier to come to a freep while still on Bagdad Time/and with jetlag???
It's so nice to know that yes, Americans care about
their country, cherish their freedoms...
...And LOVE to Freep!
Can't wait to see more pictures!
To: Hi Heels
Wow. Thank you for the two "Purple Revolution" shots, one of me with bullhorn and one of my hand.
My report:
I arrived with a box of purple rubber fingertips (a great bargain on EBAY where I snagged two gross for $1 per gross plus shipping--they usually cost about $2.50 per dozen at a stationery store) that had been dyed in RIT. In retrospect, I'd have gone for more of a lavender than a plum purple.

I was surprised at how few people understood the symbolism of the purple finger. When I got a puzzled stare from someone walking by, I made a point to politely ask "do you understand the purple finger"? If I got a positive response, I explained about the tens of millions of Afghans and Iraqis who risked their lives despite the threats to their lives by the powerful religious extremists. It wasn't merely voting, but that because of the dye, anyone who voted would be identifiable for 3 or 4 days AFTER the election. This is one of the reasons when I had bullhorn time I tried to explain the meaning. Frankly, I wasn't surprised that Hollywood would be this oblivious to REAL freedom and courage to fight for it.
Shout outs to the other FREEPers who helped hand out and explain what the "freedom fingers" were all about. In retrospect, I think it is important to POUND THE "PURPLE REVOLUTION" SYMBOLISM HOME, OVER AND OVER until it becomes as AT LEAST AS ubiquitous as the idiotic "WAR IS NO THE ANSWER" bumper stickers.
At about 3:30, I looked in my hip case and noticed that my PDA wasn't there. My LIFE is in it, so this was no small loss. I left the corner and walked back to my car at the lot on Cherokee that RonDog recommended. Hooray, my PDA was in the car after all. But walking back toward the FREEPing, I noticed that there was a primo location near Hollywood and Cherokee where cars were passing through a security gauntlet after being checked for explosives. Hundreds of cars got an "in your face" look of me with my "purple revolution" finger. I saw dozens mouthing the words "purple revolution" (proof of a solid public school education--having to read while moving one's lips!). I got some approving "thumbs up" salutes but I most of all I was successful at propagating the "mental virus" of planting the meme of the
"purple revolution" that
President Bush noted last week.
No doubt the newspapers and news shows that these limosine liberals watch do all they can to suppress the message of the courage of the purple-fingered first time voters.
At around 4:30, I walked back to the corner to see how well the rest of the FREEPers did.

Post-mortem... in retrospect, I'd have wanted one more sign with an explanation of what the purple fingers represented, a printed quotation of President Bush's mentioning the "purple revolution" and MANY signs with and WHY people should
want to wear them. See below with suitable photos of courageous voters.
We could have really shown Hollywood, in character, as
Garofalo-like.
Thank you all. Sincerely, Rantblogger
