Kahanist Marzel threatens MK Barakei [Actually the Reverse, but What the Hey...]
Jerusalem Post ^ | Feb. 28, 2005 | Nina Gilbert

Posted on 02/28/2005 1:21:32 PM PST by Alouette

Baruch Marzel, a disciple of the late extremist Meir Kahane and leader of the National Jewish Front party, recently sent a threatening letter to Hadash MK Mohammed Barakei warning that he was sending appraisers to assess the value of his home in advance of his "expulsion."

Barakei sent the letter on Monday to the Knesset security chief, who then passed it on to the police for inspection. Barakei, who lives in Shfaram, warned that he could not be "responsible" for Marzel's safety if he enters onto his property.

In the letter, Marzel said that after Barakei supported the "transfer of Jews" in the Knesset Finance Committee it would only be a matter of time before it would be applied to "other groups."

Marzel also stated that Barakei should be "tried and thrown into jail for being an enemy of the state."

To get a real sense of just how chaotic the situation is in the Middle East, just go back to the day Yassir Arafat showed up at the United Nations dressed in his revolutionary garb in 1974. If you had predicted to anyone back then that within the next 30 years the following events would take place . . .

1. The leader of Egypt would be assassinated -- by Egyptians;

2. The prime minister of Israel would be assassinated -- by an Israeli Jew; and

3. Yassir Arafat would die quietly of natural causes . . .

. . . most people probably would have given you odds of about a million-to-one on that bet.

Actually read the article from Yediot. Marzel did threaten MK Barakeh's safety and the MK responded in kind. Marzel is an extremist and a nut case. Kahanists have a history of violence. So long as this is (incredibly stupid) talk by Marzel then nothing should be done. If he tries to do anything illegal or does anything illegal then he should be prosecuted, just like any other member of society.

If your definition of sane is this then I humbly submit you are insane. Marzel and his ilk are a danger to our freedom and our society.

These stories are starting to sound like a Middle Eastern version of a Kweisi Mfume vs. David Duke steel-cage WWF match.

What is so insane of Marzel?

Wanting to protect his country and not surrender it to Jew Haters?

In America people such as you who support surrendering to terrorists qualify as Appeasers. Only in Israel could people who support surrendering to terrorists be considered Patriotic.

Last I checked Gaza is NOT part of our country. It never was. We never annexed it for good reason. We are getting out of it for good startegic reasons as well.

Of course, you must be right and the roughly 70% of Israelis who support the Prime Minister on this must be wrong.

70% of Israelis support withdrawal from Gaza? So why didn't they vote for Mitzna in the last election? Withdrawal from Gaza was his platform.

Or are you referring to the 70% of Israelis who voted against Mitzna and then got bait & switched?

I am talking of current polls which show 67-70% support for disengagement.

Bait and switch? What did you think the Prime Minister was saying when he said that anyone who didn't support a Palestinian state would be excluded from his Cabinet. That was during the campaign if you remember. Surely he meant Gaza and parts of the West Bank. It seems to me this Prime Minister is doing precisely what he said he would do.

I asked my son about those polls. He told me that only leftists and Palestinians are being included in these polls.

Polls aka surveys are not elections.

First off there are no Palestinian people and never was a Palestinian state.

Second off all after the War of Independence in 1948 Israel liberated Sinai territory up to El Arish. And foolishly gave it up under 1949 armistice lines.

And giving up land to terrorists only in the insane appeasers mind is good strategy. The more land you give up the deeper they can fire rockets into your home.

No, Marzel is just a Jew who wants to live in peace as a Jew in Eretz Yisrael.

The problem suicidal Bolshevik Israel has with him is he is outspoken about wanting to survive and removing genocidal terrorists (horrors!).

Well now you are trying to backpedal and reverse engineer the campaign. IIRC Mitzna the Labour candidate was campaigning on a platform of unilateral withdrawal, while Sharon was campaigning on a platform of no concessions without reciprocity and a Palestinian state IF AND ONLY IF they abide by all their obligations.

I'd say the voters got shafted.

Bill to implement expulsion plan passes on vote-change by anti-Israel Arab By Israel Insider staff and partners February 8, 2005

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon won a Pyrrhic victory as his Evacuation/Compensation bill passed a vote of the Knesset Finance committee only by a single vote cast by Communist Party MK Mohammed Barakeh, who openly identifies himself as a Palestinian hostile to Israel and Zionism.

His surprise change of vote -- as an opposition member he typically votes against government legislation -- gave the bill a 10-9 majority, enabling it to advance the compensation clauses of the resolution for its final plenum votes next week.

But the fact that the bill's passage in committee relied on a self-identified Palestinian and one of the Knesset's most outspokenly hostile opponents of Israel has already generated intense embarassment among Sharon's ministers, who went so far as to call the vote "legal but illegitimate." It is sure to fuel claims that the law to expel Jewish families from their homes and lands does not have the support of a Jewish majority.
