Liberal Religious Organizations A Subterfuge

Liberal Religious Organizations – A Subterfuge

The best way to convince Middle America and people in the red counties of the northeast and far left coast is to enlist the aid of purported religious leaders. Take for example the Faith Action Network (FAN), an operative of “People for the American Way”. This group, calling themselves Christians, opposes what they call the “religious right”, as if conservative Christians are the enemy.  According to FAN’s own manifesto, pro-life, anti-gay-marriage is a “divisive political agenda”.

I realize that this article will not be news to Freepers, but it is cathartic. The frauds who head FAN are founding board members Father Bob Drinan, Father Ted Hesburgh, Rev. Chuck Bergstrom and Rev. John Buchanan. Rev. Timothy McDonald and Rabbi David Saperstein. It is hardly necessary to ask what their position is on abortion. We know the answer.

FAN uses the term “religious progressives”, which is like cross-dressing. In some cases the outward appearance is not nearly as revolting or surprising as knowing what is inside. FAN encourages its leaders to play a more active role in the national dialogue about morality and politics. As I have said before, this nation is divided on morality, between the haves and the have-nots. The dialogue is between those good and evil.

I believe there are certain moral principles that are immutable. We know that they are so, because without them, governments cannot exist. Not everyone is content with living according to 10 simple commandments. The murder denies the validity of the 6th commandment. The womanizer denies the validity of the 7th, the thief the 8th, the liar the 9th, and the greedy the 10th.  Their opinions do not alter the fact that when obeyed, society is orderly. But not only orderly, those who abide by them derive personal benefits that are not enjoyed by transgressors of the God given Law of Moses.

When you hear a religious leaders speak of the rich tradition of “religious pluralism”, be reminded of what the Psalmist wrote, “I hate double-minded men, but I love your law.” 119:113(NIV). Progressives, whether atheists, or so-called religious, do not love the God given Law of Moses. They are as Timothy wrote: “treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God” 2Tim3:4(NIV).

FAN aligns itself with “Americans of all faiths”, but to FAN the “religious right” is not among them. The “faiths” that FAN speaks of are only those who share our goal of a more just and equitable society, one that denies the rights of innocent children who are slaughtered by their mothers, but protects the rights of terrorists, who seek to destroy America. These are the progressive clergy who lead their sheep of more than 600,000 into the fire of condemnation.

According to FAN, Achieving ideological domination of the federal judiciary is the top goal of right-wing activists inside and outside the Bush administration. Ideological domination refers to the scourge of religious conservatives who are against abortion, and gay marriage. Who are for a strict construction of the Constitution so as to allow religion and government to coexist. “Progressive religion” does not need to coexist with government because it is an illusion. having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them. 2Tim3:5(NIV)

"divisive"

When liberals start calling conservative views on homosexuality or abortion "divisive," you know they are trying to suppress free debate. They are frauds; the conservative position on these issues is no more "divisive" than the liberal position; the issues are intrinsically divisive, period.

I'm a bit surprised to see Fr. Hesbergh's name on this initiative. He has been a big-time troublemaker, and is chiefly responsible for the downhill course taken by our Catholic colleges since his sponsorship of the Land O' Lakes initiative. But he usually is careful to cover himself. He hires pro-aborts, but then pleads their academic freedom.

Here he seems to put his name on a pro-abort program. Someone should go after him for that.

Same old Gramscian cr@p. Infiltrate, confuse, subvert, destroy.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who is pro-abortion and pro-sodomy has forfeited any claim to be a follower of Jesus Christ--from ANY denomination.

A person's religious views largely are based on his cultural experience. Since the Liberal "culture" is largely agnostic to atheistic, we have a liberal religion that reflect that. A religion whose "salvation" or whatever they call it is is simply adhering to liberal politics and repeating their talking points like a parrot.

I grew up in such a church. it is like they never have anything insightful to say. They just repeat their lines like and actor with no originality and frankly I question whether they actually believe anything.

>>They are as Timothy wrote: “treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God” 2Tim3:4(NIV).<<

Small quibble. The apostle Paul wrote the letters TO Timothy. The writer was probably just caught up in the enthusiasm of the moment.

I would lump in the so-called Evangelicals who are trying to build momentum within the demoncrap party as well. They are Marxist-Evangelicals, if there is such a thing.

Divisive: dissenting (especially dissenting with the majority opinion)On the issue of partial birth abortion 3/4 in red states, 2/3 in swing states, and 55% in blue states are opposed to abortion. So by definition the liberals are the divisive ones, at least on that issue. I presume the true measure of society is that most people also are opposed to abortion in all forms on religious grounds, most people are against gay marriage on traditional religious grounds.

Brother bilhosty, "religious views" - not to be confused with one's personal relationship with God. Once one experiences God's grace, power and mercy, one's cultural experience plays no further role in that person's faith. Even though I may not have stated my case as clearly as I would have liked to? Would you tend to agree?

I like this idea. How many names can we come up with for an organization that is the antithesis of its namesake?

On pro-abortion:

Great Americans for the Preservation of Civil Rights.

God's People for the Prevention of Child Abuse

Religious Freedom and Choice

Women Protecting Children

Youth Ministry for Unwed Mothers

Caring Comforting and Counseling Pregnant Teens

On Removing God from Government and Public Places:

God's People Against Government Involvement in Religion

Americans United In Prayer

Religious Society for:

Freedom of Worship and Government

Freedom to think Religious Thoughts

Preservation of Independent Churchs
