23 year old shot, in critical condition. Prayers requested
me

Posted on 03/03/2005 9:26:34 AM PST by notpoliticallycorewrecked

My husband just called to let me know that one of his carpooling co-worker's son was shot yesterday afternoon. The son is in critical condition in a hospital in Los Angeles. The doctors removed the bullet in his neck, but can't locate the bullet in his abdomin. He is so critical at this point that they don't want to even take an X-Ray.

Please prayer for this young man and his family. Thank you.

15 illegal aliens in van released
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review ^ | Thursday, March 3, 2005 | Bob Stiles

Posted on 03/03/2005 12:38:24 PM EST by Willie Green

State police at Somerset released a vanload of 15 illegal aliens after federal immigration officials didn't want to go out in bad weather this week.

Cpl. Robert F. Johnson said in a news release that he stopped a van carrying the aliens at about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday on a section of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Stony Creek Township, Somerset County. He then couldn't get U.S. immigration officials to travel to the Somerset barracks of the turnpike, he said.

"They declined to take the aliens into custody, citing poor weather conditions," Johnson's report stated.

He couldn't be reached for comment Wednesday.

Sgt. Anthony DeLuca, the commander of the turnpike station, said police were forced to release the 13 Mexicans and two Guatemalans when the federal officials didn't come.

"We can't detain them unless they commit a crime," he said.

Loving Father we pray for our children
growing up in this world.
Give us the understanding of their needs
and show us how we may best help them
to face life and the problems it may bring.
We pray that all homes will be, at all times,
a haven of love and security.
We pray for the protection of all young people
from the evil one who prowls in many disguises.
May Jesus, our greatest friend, walk with them
and enfold them in the ways of love, peace and joy.
For blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.
Amen

Thank you so much for the prayers. I still don't have an update. My husband is going to call the father's cell phone either later tonight or tomorrow. As soon as I have an update I will post it immediately.

The only thing we know is that he was on his wasy to pick up his younger sister (?) from school when he was shot. Since this is long distance (Mom and Dad are divorced) we don't know any other details.

Thank you all for prays.

My husband did call the father a few minutes ago. The young man was shot 4 times not the two times that we were orginally told. Twice in the neck and twice in the abdomen. They have removed 3 of the bullets, but still have one to remove in the neck region. The doctors are now waiting for him to re-stablize after the first surgery.

It sounds like the doctors are optimistic at this time. He is in grave condition, but he has youth on his side.

The shooting appears to be a random act. This was a drive-by from another car to his car. The police to not know why he was targeted.

I just have to wonder how someone finds themselves in a situation where they are shot four times.

I have no doubt that those that shot him had every intention of killing him. It is not known why they intended to kill him. Perhaps it was mistaken identity. I have heard of numerous drive-bys where they shot the wrong person, house, car, etc.

We had a gang shooting that was in a nearby city that killed a man that was the father of 4 children and was a respected dentist in that town. He was stopped at a traffic light at major intersection is a "good" area of his city. His wife was in the car behind him with their four children.

If you don't wish to pray for this young man that is fine with me. But no matter what was the "reason", I believe that he is worthy of prayers.

I was in Los Angles in August of 2002. We were in an area famous for drive-bys, the recent riots, and is known as a very poor neighborhood. Almost everyone knows the area as Rampart. Rampart Central was a block or two from where we were staying.

My reason for being down there, my husband had a brain tumor that was operated on by the House Ear Group. The number one ear-brain surgery team in the world.

BTW Rush used the same medical group for his cochlear implant. So he was also in the same bad neighborhood when he had his surgery.

I won't be 'guilt' ridden by anyone who criticises me for being skeptical.

Without ANY facts by YOU. I think this kid was shot for possibly being involved in some sort of gang thing, or drugs.

You haven't given any name, facts, stats or anything about this kid.

Well colour me skeptical. I'll pray - and have done - for many. But I won't pray for drug dealers.

I can't pass on this one. Yes, it could be a drug deal gone bad. It could also be the so-called "community" of your everyday, fun-loving, thugs. Saturday night sport in the 1950's - 1960's was driving up on a sidewalk to run over a dog or cat. Now they shoot people for no reason.
