AKRON, Ohio -- A Springfield Township mother broke down in tears as she was sentenced to 10 years in prison in connection with the death of her 13-month-old daughter. Vanessa McGlumphy, 25, and the baby's father made statements to the court Wednesday, NewsChannel5 reported.
McGlumphy, pleaded guilty last month to involuntary manslaughter and child endangering for not protecting her daughter.
The toddler died last October. She suffered a broken neck, a severed liver and 12 broken ribs. She also had been struck 40 times with a needle on the bottom of both feet and the side of her head, the prosecutor said. McGlumphy said that she thought her boyfriend, Daniel Duffield, 32, sacrificed her child because he is a different religion than she is and that they performed a ritual on the girl as a result of his belief. McGlumphy characterized Duffield as a "black pagan," the prosecutor said.
Duffield was found guilty Tuesday of involuntary manslaughter and murder in the death of the toddler.
He will be sentenced March 9. He faces 15 years to life in prison.
No amount of torture, pain, or suffering is enough for these sickening scum.

I think the correct punishment for this would be for the parents to undergo the exact same treatment they applied to the wee one. (Or allowed, in the case of the mother.)

This is why Dr. Laura is so against single mothers of young children dating. All too often these men prey on the children of these mother, either sexually or out of jealousy for the time they take away from them as they see it. And all too many of these women are so desperate for a man they'll turn a blind eye to whatever he does in order to keep him. Once again, Dr. Laura is vindicated. Very sad.

I pray for this poor child that the lord has taken her in his arms.
Manslaughter...15 years to life ... No friggin way this should happen. Where is the death penalty.

The ACLU will take this case. They're suppressing his freedom of religion! And, besides, this is nothing more than a retroactive abortion. I mean, come on, the girl was just an overgrown fetus.
